WWE vs. WCW: Was It Meant To Happen in 2002-2003?

Posted by David Forrest On November - 22 - 2010
Whilst flicking through an old copy of Power Slam, I noticed something which immediately caught my eye and made me freeze in disbelief. Someone had written in asking about the fact he had heard from a friend that WWE had tried to facilitate a second invasion angle from WCW, this time starring all the big names who decided to stay at home, put their feet up and run out the clock on their Time Warner contracts, and he asked if this was true. The ever-knowledgable bods at Power Slam replied saying that, yes, such an angle had been thrown about but ...
In the last few years, the WWE's markets have been expanding from the traditional mainstays of the USA, Canada and the UK to across the globe in places like China, Japan and India. India, in particular, is a market which the WWE would do well to tap into. With a population of over a billion, India has become one of the largest potential markets for the 'E, with the country's interest in wrestling booming since their last tour in 2002, which was warmly recieved itself. Recent promotional tours from Rey Mysterio and Kane were greeted with an exceptional response and ...
In the past few weeks, we've seen everyone from Goldberg to Sheamus via Kevin Nash and Wade Barrett touted as the Undertaker's next opponent at Wrestlemania. However, it seems that the closest successor to the Undertaker's streak has decided to formally announce their wish to create the ultimate Streak vs. Streak match. It seems that Sable has challenged The Undertaker to a match where both combatants will put their streaks on the line. On her official Twitter feed, Sable wrote "MCMAHON. TAKE NOTE. STREAK VS. STREAK AT WMXXVII. I WANT TAKER". Insiders believe that Sable has been tempted to offer McMahon this ...

Undertaker at Wrestlemania: 5 Better Matchups Than Lesner Or Goldberg

Posted by David Forrest On November - 1 - 2010
With all this talk about Undertaker vs. Lesnar or Undertaker vs. Goldberg, both of which, in all honesty, I think are a waste of a Wrestlemania, I thought I'd list five possible Wrestlemania matches that would be better.  Here are the five completely plausible matches that I think would be worthy of inclusion in the Undertaker Wreslemania Roll of Honour.Begin Slideshow

The British Conundrum: Why WWE Gives Us Brits the Runaround

Posted by David Forrest On November - 1 - 2010
For many of my readers across the pond, this is probably not going to be of much relevance. You people are not forced to submit to the barrage of bumper ads glamourising the upcoming Raw/SmackDown UK tours, numbering at four or five per hour, whether it be Superstars or WWE Experience.I admit, you probably have to sit through other mind-numbing commercials or regional plugs for events, but sometimes it feels like they make a special exemption for us Brits here and suck out extra airtime to make way for yet another plug for the LG Arena show or the Odyssey ...

WWE Hell in a Cell: Undertaker-Kane, The Final Curtain Call? (Part I)

Posted by David Forrest On October - 1 - 2010
I'm going to start this article off by making a bold statement: I would bet my house on Kane retaining the title on Sunday. Undertaker will not win this match by a long shot. How do I know? Well, think about it. Letting Taker win would destroy all the momentum this feud has had. It's all centred around Kane dominating his brother, that is where all the heat is coming from. Letting the Undertaker win would basically ruin all of Kane's hype and momentum. No one would bother as much with it if we know Taker can win, will they? "Oh, same ...

WWE Superstars: The Exception To The Rule Of Diminishing Returns?

Posted by David Forrest On September - 29 - 2010
With the news that NXT is going to the great Television Network in the sky and has been relegated to an online-only programme, it seems that all WWE programmes are in decline creatively and in the ratings. Raw, for example, has returned some shockingly low ratings over the past few months and while Smackdown is standing strong, the show has received an expected boost in ratings thanks to all the hullabaloo around it's move to Syfy in the next few weeks or so. In all honesty, I would expect them to experience a dip in ratings once the furore has calmed down. In addition to this, many ...

Dudebusters vs. Hawkins/Archer: The Beginning of Something Bigger?

Posted by David Forrest On August - 7 - 2010
If you caught Superstars this week, you'll have noticed the second match was a tag team match between the Dudebusters and Curt Hawkins and Vance Archer. In my opinion, this is something I have been waiting for a long time. The two teams have spent the last six months on Superstars squashing local rookies, or engaging in singles feuds with their partner at ringside, but the two have barely ever crossed paths. One look at the two teams in action shows that they are made for each other, both with a high-flying, agile, quick brand of wrestling which is so synonymous with tag ...

BR KOTR First Round Matches 1 and 2 Results

Posted by David Forrest On August - 2 - 2010
Here is the results from the first two matches, along with a match report. Sorry about the delay.   Dolph Ziggler vs. Evan Bourne: As Ziggler walked down the entranceway, there was an air of brashness about him. He looked at Bourne and sneered at his size. It was obvious that Ziggler was confident about his chances in the tournament, particularly in this match. The two men came out of their respective corners, and the bell rang. Ziggler and Bourne stared each other down, before Ziggler shoved Bourne off his feet and onto the mat. As Bourne regained his composure, Ziggler started to laugh at ...
