AJ Styles vs. Kevin Owens: Comparing WWE SmackDown, Raw’s Booking of Top Heels

Posted by Ryan Dilbert On January - 20 - 2017

AJ Styles has had a distinct edge over Kevin Owens as the two villains have reigned over WWE SmackDown and Raw, respectively: superior booking. The amount of electricity surrounding their upcoming title bouts speak to that. Styles is poised to face John Cena for the WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view on Jan. 29. Owens will defend the Universal Championship against Roman Reigns the same night. SmackDown's championship bout is more appealing, a collision of titans belonging to the blue ...

WWE Survivor Series 2010: Breaking Down the Kane-Edge Rivalry

Posted by Robert Aitken On November - 11 - 2010ADD COMMENTS
In just ten days at Survivor Series, Kane will defend his World Heavyweight Championship against the Rated-R Superstar, Edge. This is not the first time that these men have faced each other on a pay-per-view. In fact, it will be just the fourth time that these two men will meet each other at a pay-per-view.These men have held many championships throughout their careers and both are future Hall of Famers. It's time to look back at their history, starting from the very beginning.Begin Slideshow
Anybody can agree that WWE is too mainstream. They did put wrestling on the map for America and it was very big in the early days like the 80s and 90s but that momentum has slowed down. People still put WWE as the highest bar in terms of quality wrestling. It really bugs me, has any of them seen a Japanese wrestling match? Puroresu. That is what Japanese wrestling is called. I think WWE has clearly defined the differences between them and puroresu or lucha libre. WWE is sports entertainment. Puroresu is also scripted wrestling, I'll give you that but it is more realistic. There is ...
With news breaking recently that the WWE are looking to bring back the interpromotional event, King of the Ring (putting it on Raw in Nov after the Survivor Series), I continue to see how things come full circle in this industry. Just look at this year alone: They introduce a dominant group who take over: been done before. They bring back Bret Hart: nice, good to see him. They bring back Raw Roulette: not so nice, quite silly actually. They bring back the Million Dollar Belt: really?! They bring back Paul Bearer: oh, dear. They bring back King of the Ring: well, actually... this may be interesting. If it's done well, this could add some ...

WWE Monday Night RAW General Manager Prospects

Posted by Anakin Cane On November - 11 - 2010ADD COMMENTS
Monday nights in the fall mean a 10 to 15 percent drop in the Monday Night Raw rating. The show has not been that good as of late, and I am in no mood to see the 1,000,000,000,000th meeting between Orton and Cena. The NeXuS angle has been losing steam lately. Sheamus does not look as dominant as when he started out. Exposing the face behind the computer of the GM would be a boost for a few weeks. If it is a big enough name, and a good enough angle behind it, this could be a boost for a month ...
Alright, let me start off by asking, what am I doing writing about the Nexus? I usually write about the Divas and prefer to write about them. However, something came into my brain and sparked quite an interesting and probably a very good idea. Well, I won't call it "great" just yet. I'm quite humble enough to admit it isn't the "greatest" idea, but if it had ever came into fruition, it might be. With that said, there might be some kind of Diva connection within this article, but you'd have to read it all to find out. The Nexus angle ...
Define: Botch 1) Wrestler attempts a scripted move but fails to pull it off either through a mistake, malfunction or misunderstanding with opponent. 2) While cutting a promo a superstar forgets his lines or makes an unscripted mistake 3) F**KING HILARIOUS There has always been mistakes in professional wrestling some minor, some major, some hilarious and some painful to even think of. Everyone has heard of the infamous 'Botchamania' videos which have collected some of the finest botches ever to have graced the internet, so there is no need for me to write a whole article about the psychology and ...

Secret Life Of a Pro-Wrestler: Hitting The Mats

Posted by Joe Burgett On November - 10 - 2010ADD COMMENTS
First off, I wanna say thank you all for reading the first part of this series and giving such positive responses. It means a lot. I am planning on doing this series weekly, unless people want more, in which I will try and get more out in a week as I can. But in any case, here is Part 2 of The Secret Life of a Pro-Wrestler.   Part 2: Hitting the Mats Whenever I travel I kinda get a case of restless leg syndrome, I don't know why. I'm guessing it's because I am sitting in a car for so long and I'm ...

Randy Orton: Another Title Run Wasted

Posted by Kiel McLaughlin On November - 10 - 2010ADD COMMENTS
The headline may be a little presumptuous, but since I’m anticipating an end to Randy Orton’s first reign as champion since turning face at Survivor Series, I’d say it’s spot-on. A few months ago, prior to Orton winning the WWE Championship that was none other than a thrown together mess of a Six Pack Challenge main event, I wrote a column about why RKO shouldn’t carry the strap at this point. My rationale was that, while he was the hottest act in the company, he had yet been part of a truly strong program against an opponent of equal stature and ...

WWE Survivor Series: The Unauthorized History, Part Two

Posted by Benjamin Benya On November - 10 - 2010ADD COMMENTS
In case you missed the details surrounding the beginning of the Survivor Series, including Vince McMahon’s pay-per-view ultimatum and the demise of Jim Crockett promotions, click here. If you’re all caught up, then we continue our story in 1989. By the time the World Wrestling Federation was scheduled to present their third Survivor Series event, things in the pay-per-view and television ranks had changed. The WWF now had four events broadcast on the pay channels, with Survivor Series being the last of the year. The Federation had such an expansive roster that even the most basic of concepts, the Survivor ...
