The pretty boy gimmick has its roots back in the 1930s when future Hall of Famer Gorgeous George invented the common pro wrestling gimmick of a narcissistic good looker who's obsessed with his looks. But it was the "Original Nature Boy" Buddy Rogers who took the vain gimmick to a whole new level.
He had the mature movie star good looks and that "Every woman wants me, every man wants to be like me" shtick. And that gimmick fit him to a tee. Rogers would go on to become a WWE Champion in the process.
