The Eventual Demise of WWE

Posted by Cec Van Galini On July - 31 - 2010
It is clear that this prediction will not occur anytime soon. The demise of WWE will not happen this year or the next. The sleek productions of the McMahon group will last for some time. However, the collapse of any company does not occur overnight but rather through years of mismanagement. The death of WCW is the example. It is hard to imagine an internationally renowned company collapsing as dramatically as it did, but WCW had in fact been in terminal decline for several years. The 2001 buyout sealed its fate. What killed WCW was a lack of creative direction. The storylines and the wrestling product was not ...

WWE Summer Madness: Championship

Posted by Ryne Alexander On July - 31 - 2010
Welcome, B/R readers, to the championship match of WWE Summer Madness. This "March Madness"-like wrestling bracket started off with 64 WWE superstars. With the help of your voting, we are now down to the final two superstars who will face off for the Championship.  Now let's introduce the two superstars who will be wrestling this championship match:   The Undertaker The Undertaker was the No. 1 seed in the North bracket for a reason.  This superstar has reigned terror over the WWE for two decades and now he has made it to the championship match thanks to your votes. The Undertaker's first match was ...

Pro Wrestling’s Worst Title Runs (Part Two)

Posted by Matthew Hester On July - 31 - 2010
In part one of this series I covered a lot of bad title runs. Sadly these are not the worst ones to ever be seen. In part two we are going to see what I feel are the worst ever. You may have some that are not on the list. If I didn't include it on here it's not because it wasn't bad. Its because these are the ones that I feel are the worst. Please feel free to throw in the title runs that you consider awful. That is the fun part about making a list like this. It causes conversation ...

Pro Wrestling: July 30th Review Of WWE’s Friday Night Smackdown!

Posted by Chris O Connall On July - 31 - 2010
Kane's Promo This was a great promo from Kane. It was as good as, if not better, than his previous promos over the last few weeks. It had passion, emotion, and rhythm.  Everything Kane said worked well and was believable. It makes me wonder why the WWE hasn't given Kane a decent storyline for so long. Great promo, but if I said anymore, it would just devalue the segment! 5/5   Christian vs. Drew McIntyre Simply put, another argument as to why it's better to have wrestling people in charge of a wrestling show! This match was as close to perfect as a television match can get! It had everything—outside ...
It flows within us, more rampantly than blood: the passion for pro wrestling. For all of our troubles, the haven is present, ready and willing to make us shout in excitement and groan in agony. It is in existence because it knows you can’t help but laugh at the silliest premise; it is aware that you cannot hold back the tears you wish to shed. But are you aware of its control? The tattered remains of a once great journal stood before me, the dossier that once held some of the most captivating texts ...

BR’s Battle Of The WWE Champs Semifinals!

Posted by Matthew Hester On July - 31 - 2010
We are finally in the home stretch, folks. HBK would take out his long-time friend HHH in the last round. We would also see The  People's champ, The Rock, move on to the semifinals. Kane would make it a little fun before losing to the Hitman . Stone Cold would go on to lay down Angle after a Stone Cold Stunner. Andre the Giant made it pretty far in this competition, but would finally get put down by Y2J. I know what you're thinking, my friends. How can this be the semifinals? Due to having to add Mysterio in the second round, it screwed ...

Global Title Now TNA TV Title; Eric Bischoff’s Smartest Idea Yet?

Posted by Johnathon Gustin On July - 31 - 2010
Ric Flair made the announcement on the July 29th edition of TNA Impact that AJ Styles' current Global Championship would now become the TNA TV Champion (meaning, it only can be defended on TV). The origins of the Global Championship was Booker T buying his own championship belt, the TNA Legend's Championship (TNA's million dollar knockoff) that he subsequently lost to AJ Styles. Eventually, it ended up in the hands of Eric Young, who changed the name to the Global Championship to match his faction. The Global Championship was viewed as a "toy belt" by many viewers—no prestige or value associated with ...

WWE’s TV PG Era: Is It Really That Bad?

Posted by Gabe Mambo On July - 31 - 2010
Professional Wrestling has seen better days. In the days of my youth, the WWE was going through the Attitude Era, the pinnacle of the Monday Night Wars. Thanks to controversial segments, smashmouth wrestling, and TV-14 at its best, the WWE beat out WCW as the top promotion, eventually buying their rival in 2001. In this day and age, the story is different. TV-14 has turned into PG. Many wrestling fans in the Internet wrestling community call this era the "PG Era" of the WWE. Swearing is now a no-no. Blood is not to be used in any segment. Scantily clad women are now a thing of ...

Matt Hardy: Be Careful, Vince

Posted by Hannah Ellicock On July - 31 - 2010
Matt Hardy is possibly one of the most entertaining, physically able superstars on the Smackdown brand currently, and do they use him properly? No. His brother Jeff, for example, was the same. Amazingly talented, great competitor, highly entertaining, and would take risks just to show the fans that his heart and soul was in the business. Matt's is too, and I think every knowledgeable fan in this "WWE Universe" knows that he has just as much heart and determination as Jeff did, but does he get the time to show it? His matches are simply quick matches ...

TNA Impact! Recap and Conclusions

Posted by Daniel Peragine On July - 31 - 2010
TNA Impact! immediately begins in the ring with Tommy Dreamer and the rest of the "Hardcore Originals."  The crowd is extremely loud during this segment, as it appears excitement continues to build.  Dreamer announces that the name for the group is "EV 2.0."  Brother DVon calls out Bubba Ray to find answers.  After the "EV 2.0" group keeps pushing for Ray to join, including TNA announcer Taz, Bubba decides to join the originals.  The crowd again chants loudly, "EV 2.0!" Hulk Hogan makes his return after a two week absence and endorses the group.  Abyss interrupts as Hogan ...
