Is Curtis Axel a Future Star?

Posted by Justin LaBar On May - 31 - 2013
If you base Curtis Axel's status off of how many times fans have said his name in the past two weeks, he's a main event star. If you base Axel's status off of his first two weeks, he is a main event star. He has wins over Triple H and John Cena in the Raw main event. But still, there are some who are skeptical of Axel's future. Big Nasty is one of them. He and I go at it in this debate regarding whether or not Axel is going to be a big superstar. WWE: Chris Jericho Needs a Good Title Run This Year

Posted by Giulio Romano On May - 31 - 2013
"I am the first ever, undisputed-uh, WWE champion in history!"Chris Jericho will go down in history as the first man to hold the unified world championship after defeating both The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin in 2001.Such a feat makes the Ayatollah of Rock-and-Rollah a future Hall of Famer without question. However, there are years left in this living legend's career. What better way to further push him forward and, at the same time, make his recent return the most successful ever by having him capture a little gold?It has been way to long. He held the World Heavyweight championship ...

Comparing the WWE Careers of Kofi Kingston and R-Truth

Posted by Ryan Dilbert On May - 31 - 2013
Former tag team partners, Kofi Kingston and R-Truth have both excited WWE fans with their athleticism, but haven't been able to crack the company's upper echelon. Both men have been career midcarders so far, secondary titles filling up most of their resume. More than race and their tag team partnership connect them. There are several parallels between their WWE careers, chief among them continuing to hit their heads on the glass ceiling. Neither is the complete package, and that explains why they have both been roosting on the middle rungs of the WWE ladder. As fabulous as Kingston can be ...

Alberto Del Rio’s Babyface Run Is Working

Posted by Ryan Dilbert On May - 31 - 2013
It may have seemed unlikely at the start of his WWE career, but Alberto Del Rio is now thriving as a babyface. The transition from sneering aristocrat to resilient, moralistic warrior was awkward at first, but Del Rio is more and more a believable hero and is popular with a large portion of the crowd. He helps WWE balance out the ratio of face and heel with so many young, promising stars currently residing on the dark side. The key to his success as a face hasn't been him getting rid of his luxury cars or donning the colors of ...

WWE’s Vision of Entertainment and the Obsession with Dance

Posted by Tyson Jones On May - 31 - 2013
Brodus Clay, R-Truth and Fandango. What do these three WWE Superstars have in common? Well, if you answered an affinity for dancing before, during and after their matches, you'd be correct. With all the dancing, you'd be hard-pressed to convince people who didn't know any better that these three men are actually pretty skilled wrestlers. It's hard to be taken as a threat when you spend the majority of your time "getting funky" with the crowd.Still, I don't think WWE is entirely in the wrong with pushing dance for its Superstars. While it's not everyone's thing, some people like dance. I ...

This week's WWE-related Facebook and Twitter posts were soaked in nostalgia, looking back at the career of an icon, seeing what stars looked like before their stardom and reminding us that a current champion was at one point, a caddy. Bret Hart Appreciation Night was a major part of WWE's social media week, both to celebrate The Hitman's career and as a means to apologize for a politically incorrect joke. Beyond the flashbacks, cool photos and a hot lady were featured. D-Generation X lived on in a department store and WWE went back to the Stone Age.Begin Slideshow
The search for Kaitlyn's secret admirer is the latest in a long line of romance-based WWE Diva storylines, the best of which are forever etched into fans' minds. Kaitlyn's story has barely begun, and it could just as easily be compelling as it could be corny. When it has reached its conclusion, where will it rank among the best? WWE's most entertaining love stories teemed with emotional power. It's these kinds of angles that lead people to call WWE a soap opera for men. As tawdry as they might be, these stories gave us hatred and love, jealousy and rage ...

3 WWE Superstars Who Should Become Zeb Colter Guys

Posted by Seth M. Guttenplan On May - 31 - 2013
Zeb Colter has helped Jack Swagger rise from jobber to world title contender when he debuted as Swagger’s manager. While Paul Heyman is introducing new Paul Heyman Guys to his clientele, it is time for Colter to add some more Zeb Colter Guys. Superstars who join Colter and Swagger must fit well with their “Real American” gimmick. They should be heels or babyfaces turning heel who argue against immigrants and are patriotic at heart. These Superstars who become Zeb Colter Guys may have weak mic skills like Swagger, or they may just need Colter’s help to reach the next level ...

50 Greatest WWE Championship Title Changes

Posted by Robert Aitken On May - 31 - 2013
Earlier this month was the 50th anniversary of Bruno Sammartino becoming the first man to defeat a WWE champion and take his title. Buddy Rogers was named the initial champion of the then-Worldwide Wrestling Federation (WWWF). The company was parting ways with the National Wrestling Alliance and creating their own world championship. As the legend goes, Rogers won a tournament in Rio De Janeiro on April 25, 1963, though there is no proof of the tournament ever existing. Sammartino defeated Rogers for the title after 22 days.Since that first title change, there have been 110 others, meaning the championship has ...
