Why TNA Staying in Business Would Be Good for WWE

Posted by The Doctor Chris Mueller On August - 31 - 2014
TNA still hasn't found a new TV deal in the United States, and many of the long-time TNA veterans have already abandoned ship. Things certainly don't look good for the No. 2 wrestling promotion. You would think WWE officials would be happy about something like this, but the fact of that matter is that TNA staying in business is good for WWE. It's hard to say exactly why TNA hasn't found success. They've had some great minds writing the shows over the years and top talent working the matches. They've done a good job mixing future stars with wrestling veterans. They are even featured on a ...

WWE Needs to Build Multiple Stars to Lead as Faces of the Company

Posted by The Doctor Chris Mueller On August - 30 - 2014
There are a lot of big names in WWE right now, but the biggest by far has to be John Cena. WWE has built up the company on his back for the last 10 years, only occasionally letting someone else come close to being the top guy before putting Cena over again. This way of thinking has to change. It's just like Hulk Hogan in the '80s. WWE had Macho Man, Ultimate Warrior and Sgt. Slaughter, but it was always Hogan who everyone recognized as the face of the company. Randy Orton, CM Punk, Daniel Bryan and Edge are just a few of the ...

How Sin Cara and Kalisto Can Replace Rey Mysterio and Alberto Del Rio

Posted by The Doctor Chris Mueller On August - 30 - 2014
Alberto Del Rio is gone, and all signs point to Rey Mysterio leaving WWE when his contract expires. This leaves a big vacuum in the Latino Superstars category, but WWE has two luchadores already in their employ who can help ease the pain. For the older fans, there will never be anyone else like Mysterio. He came up through ECW, broke down barriers in WCW and became a World champion in WWE. There's no point in ignoring the mark he's left on the business, but there's also no point in pretending that someone else can't come along who is just as good. Mysterio is ...

That is, if you haven't watched the Rise and Fall of WCW or the Monday Night Wars DVDs that WWE has put out in the past. There's a good chance that you'll see some of the same material again.Raw aired its first broadcast in January of 1993. Nearly three years later, TNT unveiled its new wrestling show, Nitro. In ...

WWE Programming’s Best Match for Week of August 30

Posted by Brad Jones On August - 30 - 2014
It's been a fairly limp week for WWE's in-ring content, but before we get to that, here's a brief look at the stats from the first six months of this column. Most Appearances in the 'Honourable Mentions' section 1. Cesaro (9)2. Sheamus (8)3. Randy Orton (6) Most Appearances in the 'Match of the Week' section 1. Sheamus (6)T2. Dean Ambrose (5)T2. Cesaro (5)T2. Dolph Ziggler (5) There are really few surprises above, with the top spots being taken by some of the most consistently excellent wrestlers in WWE. With that out of the way, on to this week's programming.   Honourable Mentions Coming off a truly blockbuster week ...
The August 29 episode of Friday Night SmackDown continued the show's reputation of being a placeholder for World Wrestling Entertainment. Despite appearances from former heavyweight champions such as Dolph Ziggler, the Miz, Big Show, Mark Henry and Jack Swagger, no storylines were advanced and very little of substance actually occurred. Instead, fans were treated to a solid night of professional wrestling, with several quality bouts and some key victories for top stars. As Night of Champions rapidly approaches, expect the importance of the SyFy network's highly rated program to increase exponentially. Until then, relive this week's episode of SmackDown by taking a ...
Ring Rust Radio is the best wrestling show on the airwaves, and this week was no different. TNA star Ethan Carter III also joined the show to offer his inside perspective on the business. With another unpredictable episode of Ring Rust Radio in the books, you can't afford to miss another second of the action. Catch us live every Tuesday at ...

WWE SmackDown Results: Winners, Grades, Reaction and Highlights from August 29

Posted by The Doctor Chris Mueller On August - 30 - 2014
Every week on Bleacher Report, I take an in-depth look at WWE SmackDown to recap the action, offer analysis and grade the matches, segments and anything else that takes place on the show. I also provide some predictions on the direction of storylines. Reading the match card ahead of time, you would think this be a great episode of SmackDown. Unfortunately, most of it was average at best. Two or three matches were pretty enjoyable, but everything we saw felt like something we had just seen in the past week. It seemed like an episode that was thrown together at the last minute. The one ...
World Wrestling Entertainment's Night of Champions pay-per-view is traditionally one of WWE's B-level events, the one night of the year when championships are meant to be celebrated and defended in matches throughout the evening. Over the course of its seven-year existence, the show has been home to some outstanding and memorable moments, not to mention some truly special matches. As the 2014 incarnation of the show rapidly approaches on September 21, it is important to remember that with every major success comes a far bigger head scratch in terms of logic. While a great match can solidify and legitimize one of the ...
