The Exotic Express rolled into Full Sail University for the July 31 episode of NXT, but Tyson Kidd was definitely not in the mood for a party as he squared off with Adam Rose in the evening's main event. With marital issues and championship aspirations weighing heavily on the mind of the Hart Family Dungeon graduate, would he be able to deal Rose his first loss or would the leader of the Rosebuds further frustrate Kidd and drive him to the brink of a mental breakdown? NXT Women's champion Charlotte attempted to maintain momentum just one week after defeating mentor Summer Rae ...
WWE.com announced on Wednesday that the company released Ricardo Rodriguez. He's best remembered for his time as the personal ring announcer for Alberto Del Rio. However, that's not all he did. He has other roles for the company and is a true asset to any wrestling company. This is the focus of my Reality Check this week as I explain why this was a bad decision.   Follow @JustinLaBar  Read more Pro Wrestling news on BleacherReport.com

Why Are People Still Chanting CM Punk’s Name?

Posted by Chris Featherstone On July - 31 - 2014
There is no dispute that CM Punk is a good wrestler. He proved many times in WWE, and also in Ring of Honor, that he can put on some classics. His mic work is quite stellar, too, as he magnetically garners support from the legions of fans chanting his name, enamored by his cause. So, what's the problem here? This sounds like someone we should have no complaints about, right? Wrong. Absolutely wrong. What I forgot to mention is the fact that he is a quitter. Not because of some scandalous accusation in which he was better off leaving the company. At least ...
WWE has been hitting a single note ad nauseam by having too many Superstars win by way of cheap distraction finish. There are a multitude of ways for a match to end, and WWE has too often turned to the same distraction routine. Not only is it an ending that the company has relied on too much, it's one of the least dramatic ways for a fight to end. It's tiresome, repetitive and shows a lack of creativity one wouldn't think imaginable. Were a single wrestler to take his eyes off his opponent and lose because of it, it'd be a surprise. When ...

WWE 2nd Quarter Conference Call Announces Global WWE Network Launch

Posted by Chris Harrington On July - 31 - 2014
Today's WWE's second quarter results were chocked full of news and surprises. There were both lows (WWE Network only had 700,000 paid subscribers as of June 30, meaning more than one out of every seven subscribers have cancelled already) and highs (a new 10-year deal in Canada and significant profitability improvements for 2014 and 2015). There were surprises (WWE Network is launching globally in two weeks), and there was plenty of corporate double-talk. It’s an exciting day to be covering the WWE. Besides the actual financials results (year-over-year revenue was up $4 million, and year-over-year operating income was down $31 million), WWE announced huge ...
WWE's tag team division has welcomed its latest odd couple—Health Slater and Titus O'Neil. The newly formed duo has an entertaining married-couple dynamic and enough in-ring skills to be a valuable tag team, even if competition is too stiff at the top for Slater and O'Neil to be tag champs. Look for "Slater Gator" to be the rivals who push the division's kingpins. O'Neil and Slater both felt lost without their former partners. The Prime Time Players' breakup didn't propel O'Neil as he must have hoped. He's been used as enhancement talent since, with no feuds or big pay-per-view matches to his name after ...
Is Spike TV done with TNA? Is burglarizing Daniel Bryan a good idea? Is it possible for Buff Bagwell’s post-wrestling career to become even more scandalous? TMZ.com reported that Buff Bagwell is in talks with adult-film titan Vivid Entertainment in the hopes of launching a career in XXX movies. Bagwell, who was featured on Showtime’s Gigolos, has also involved his wife in ongoing contract talks, according to the report. She’s either a keeper or a client. The way Brie Bella has fought in Daniel Bryan’s honor lately certainly qualifies her as a keeper. Bryan’s ongoing underdog story, however, recently involved him biting back. ...

WWE Must Expand to International Markets to Further Business

Posted by Joe Johnson On July - 31 - 2014
The quarterly financial reports came out today, and they were anything but great news for the WWE. Since the initial subscriber count was announced after WrestleMania, the WWE Network has only added 33,000 net subscribers. While signing up 161,000 new subscribers, they've also lost 128,000, bringing them to a total of about 700,000, according to WrestlingINC.com. In an effort to protect itself from Wall Street backlash, the WWE made two key announcements. First, CFO George Barrios announced a set of improved "efficiencies" across the company that will bring down costs, including a reduction of seven percent of staff, per PWTorch's James Caldwell. This means ...

WWE SummerSlam 2014: Smart Builds for PPV’s Top Feuds

Posted by Aaron Bower On July - 31 - 2014
After a disappointing showing at WWE Battleground, it's important that the WWE hit the nail on the head when it comes to one of its biggest shows of the year. SummerSlam often delivers a lot in the way of excitement and drama, and the card is shaping up pretty nicely to ensure the 2014 edition does the same. Still a few weeks out from the event, there is plenty to be done in the way of promoting the big matches on the card. Whether that be in the ring or with a microphone in hand, the WWE has to think smartly if ...

WWE Main Event Results: Winners, Twitter Reaction and Analysis from July 29

Posted by The Doctor Chris Mueller On July - 29 - 2014
Welcome to Bleacher Report's recap of this week's Main Event. Here is where we take a look at what happened on the show, examining the winners, reactions to matches and any possible ramifications coming out of the program. We are firmly on the road to SummerSlam at this point, which means a lot of video packages and chatter from the announcers about upcoming matches that have nothing to do with what is happening in the ring. The great thing about Main Event is that it can serve as a break from all of the feuds happening on Raw and SmackDown. Most weeks, ...
