I'm afraid I’ve got some bad news! WWE Superstar Bad News Barrett has made his latest impact on the wrestling industry with that statement, and he will look to build off the momentum he has in the ring as he takes on Big E for the Intercontinental Championship at Extreme Rules on Sunday, May 4 on the WWE Network. After beating Dolph Ziggler and Sheamus to advance to the finals of the WWE Intercontinental Championship No. 1 Contender's Tournament, Barrett was able to defeat Rob Van Dam on the April 28 episode of Raw and earn his title shot at the pay-per-view. Barrett is ...
Stephanie McMahon's reported rage and how officials plan to build up Paige in the audience's eyes headlines the latest WWE rumors. Backstage reports give insight into why McMahon was red-faced behind the scenes and how the current Divas champ is being booked. The plan for Paige is as unsurprising as McMahon's reaction to inside information finding its way outside. Other buzz focuses on how Hugh Jackman interacted with Superstars backstage and why Bad News Barrett may be getting his latest push.   Booking Barrett In a matter of weeks, Barrett has gone from only being active behind the podium to beating Dolph Ziggler, Sheamus and Rob Van ...

WWE Has Wasted the Cesaro-Jack Swagger Rivalry

Posted by Tom Beasley On April - 29 - 2014
At WrestleMania XXX, Cesaro had a real "WrestleMania Moment." He eliminated Big Show with a spectacular feat of strength to win the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. It was then assumed that he would turn face and enter a feud with his former tag team partner, Jack Swagger, that would culminate at Extreme Rules on Sunday. WWE Creative has gone through with this rivalry, but it has been booked very strangely. When the two men meet at Extreme Rules, with Rob Van Dam now in the mix as well, it will be with very little momentum or intrigue. The spanner in ...

WWE Raw Review: Daniel Bryan, Kane, Ric Flair, and More

Posted by Alfred Konuwa On April - 29 - 2014
WWE Raw was a forgettable go-home show for a strong pay-per-view in front of a surprisingly weak old-school crowd. Stunts like Bray Wyatt’s WrestleMania-caliber walkout with a children’s choir—while received coolly by a bad crowd—was effective in furthering the Cena-Bray Wyatt feud. The Kane-Daniel Bryan feud also took a turn for the bizarre, when Kane—coming from underneath the ring—nearly kidnapped Bryan’s bride Brie Bella. WWE did Bryan no favors having him stand ringside during an under-promoted Divas match for a poorly booked title. Meanwhile, the tag team division received a boost in booking, as the Usos successfully defended against Rybaxl. This was ...

WWE Extreme Rules 2014: Analyzing PPV’s Place in Modern WWE

Posted by Ryan Dilbert On April - 29 - 2014
The lack of edge to WWE Extreme Rules 2014 shows where the pay-per-view is heading, offering a diluted version of "extreme" violence. This event is supposed to be the night where chaos replaces rules, where the boundaries of the PG rating are stretched. The card, for now at least, is light on hardcore elements. Extreme Rules is still a departure from the norm, although it doesn't travel as far from it. At one point, chairs clanging against flesh and wrestlers crashing though tables was commonplace. Raw, SmackDown and pay-per-views regularly produced these kinds of moments during the Attitude and Ruthless Aggression eras. In ...

Rob Van Dam Should Turn Heel to Get the Most out of His Comeback

Posted by Sharon Glencross On April - 29 - 2014
Even the most devoted and loyal of Rob Van Dam’s supporters would be hard-pressed to say that his most recent WWE comeback has lived up to expectations. While his heavily hyped return at the Money in the Bank pay-per-view last July garnered a big reaction from the crowd in attendance, his career has been in a free-fall ever since. A dull program with Alberto Del Rio over the World Heavyweight Championship never truly got off the ground, nor did his short-lived and nonsensical association with Ricardo Rodriguez—surely one of the most mismatched pairings in WWE history? He left a few months later in ...

Possible Feuds for Alexander Rusev Following Extreme Rules

Posted by Ricardo Cruz On April - 29 - 2014
Alexander Rusev made his WWE debut at this past Royal Rumble, and ever since then, he has been unstoppable. Along with "The Ravishing Russian" Lana, he has crushed each and every person who has crossed his path. In the past few weeks, he has built a small feud with R-Truth and Xavier Woods, with Rusev earning wins over the duo. At Extreme Rules on Sunday, "The Bulgarian Brute" will take on both men in a two-on-one handicap match. With Rusev expected to continue his dominance at the pay-per-view, the WWE will need to involve him in a feud that will continue to ...
The Shield and Evolution are headed for normalcy at an event built on being more destructive and violent than the rest of the WWE calendar. The tension the company has built between the teams, the unique nature of Extreme Rules and the possibility of elevating the bout's drama via hardcore elements makes giving The Shield vs. Evolution a stipulation the obvious move. It's a move WWE has yet to take. Evolution reformed for the sole purpose of destroying The Shield. The trios have since been barking and gnashing at each other ever since. On Monday's Raw, the two groups collided once more. A match ...

10 Superstars Who Revolutionized WWE’s SmackDown Brand

Posted by Graham GSM Matthews On April - 29 - 2014
This week marks the 15-year anniversary WWE's debut episode of SmackDown on April 29, 1999. Since then, SmackDown has gone on to become one of the longest-running weekly episodic shows in American television history. SmackDown further developed its own identity once the "Brand Extension" was born in 2002. This separated the WWE roster into two brands: Raw and SmackDown. For several years, SmackDown was seen as the "wrestling" show, with Raw filled with promos and storylines. It still might have been seen as the B-show of the WWE, but at times it provided far more entertaining content for fans who weren’t interested ...

WWE Raw Results: Biggest Winners and Losers After April 28

Posted by Ryan Dilbert On April - 29 - 2014
The April 28 edition of WWE Raw began and ended with victories outside of the ring. Bray Wyatt and John Cena opened the night with the latest chapter in a story that has sunk its claws into the audience's attention. The Shield capped things off with evidence of its toughness and high standing. Aside from the haunting song that Wyatt led and the slobberknocker that The Shield delivered, Bad News Barrett's big win was one of the most notable moments of the show. His 2014 has improved dramatically in the last few weeks, including earning a trip to Extreme Rules at a ...
