WWE SmackDown: Can Randy Orton vs. Mark Henry Draw an Audience?

Posted by John Nicolaides On August - 20 - 2011
On this week's SmackDown it was made official, Mark Henry is the No. 1 contender for the World Heavyweight Championship at Night of Champions. Henry won this contendership through a 20-man over the top battle royal. While the match unfolded as a standard battle royal would, one superstar stood out from the rest. Henry was portrayed as an aggressive monster heel. Not only winning the match, but eliminating The Great Khali.During a portion of the match Henry was outside of the ring and took it upon himself to destroy every superstar that was being eliminated. It seems the WWE can do no ...
Well, it looks like that WWE not only plan on having Kevin Nash as a regular character from here on out but they expect him to compete as well. PWInsider (via WrestleScoop) are reporting that Nash has cancelled all his booked dates for Independent events in Canada because WWE are expecting him to take a medical to clear his fitness to wrestle. It will be interesting to see if Nash still has what it takes to hang with the best, if a conflict with former WWE Champion, CM Punk, is on the cards. While Nash made a special appearance at the ...

WWE: Randy Orton and the 22 Most Unstable Wrestlers of All Time

Posted by Mark Pare On August - 20 - 2011
There are those who are crazy.  There are also those who are just plain nuts.  Whether it's a character that a wrestler has taken on or just their life outside the ring, it is safe to say that instability can define most that are on this list.Randy Orton has shown in the last month, that he has one of those unstable minds that allow him to inflict mounds of punishment on his opponent.  As his song says, "he has voices in his head."He is not the only one.  He will be featured later in the list but for now, here ...

WWE: 13 Reasons Why the Summerslam Results Were Right for the Business

Posted by Hamster Enigma On August - 20 - 2011
Summerslam has come and gone and the "Biggest Party of the Summer" did or did not disappoint, depending on the person that you ask. There were unannounced matches, surprises, returns. In fact, all of the 13 questions that I asked before the PPV were answered, although I may have gotten some predictions wrong.(Here are the 13 questions in case you want to see what they were)Now, as the Summerslam hype and shock slowly dies down, I have decided to look at the decisions that were made that night and how they were right for the business.Notice how I said that they were ...

Wrestling Wonderings, Part 2: Audience Favorites

Posted by Ryan Sz On August - 20 - 2011
Earlier this week I wrote a slideshow about some of the best "what if" questions in pro wrestling and what history might have been if some things had happened differently.Well to say the slideshow was a success for me is an understatement, as it became my most read and commented on article that I've written for this site. When reading through the comments and going back and forth with the people that read it I realized that I had missed some important "what ifs."So as a thanks of sorts to those who helped make my work a success, I wrote a ...
The keywords for this review are "credible" and "credibility." The 8/19 edition of Friday Night SmackDown was a solid show, with no real shockers occurring. The part of the show I'm most shocked about is Mark Henry winning the Battle Royal to determine the new No. 1 Contender. I was sure the winner would be Wade Barrett—assuming his victory over Daniel Bryan was to build him up—or Cody Rhodes. I can't say I'm saddened by the winner, however, because Mark Henry definitely deserves the victory. His performances as of late have been tremendous. With that said, Cody Rhodes put on an ...
WWE has been doing a significant amount of advanced booking for WrestleMania XXVIII as they have already booked Cena-Rock, subtly entertained feelers for a possible Stone Cold Steve Austin return, and best of all, they seem to be putting plans in place to shoot a boxing match at 'Mania. Wait a minute. I have nothing against WWE going against the status quo, especially during WrestleMania season as they have already featured two memorable boxing matches at the high profile event. WrestleMania II featured an epic, worked clash between "Rowdy" Roddy Piper and Mr. T, while WrestleMania XV saw a shoot-clash between Butterbean ...
Due to unforeseen issues, I was not able to watch Smackdown on my TV this week. Lucky for me, there is such a thing called the Internet. Yes, I watched WWE Smackdown tonight online, and I enjoyed most of it. Having been able to skip right through commercials, it sure helped out the night. Thank you!  The Good Everything Mark Henry has done the past few months has been amazing. There is plenty of room left on the bandwagon for anybody wanting to jump on. We are still accepting people! I am telling you all: the disrespect Mark Henry gets ...

Hey Readers,I haven't done an article in a while and I thought seeing as I have done one article predicting the future in professional wrestling and two articles about what each the WWE and TNA are doing right and wrong I thought it was time to take you back to the past.As wrestling fans we like to look back and I thought I'd make sure this wasn't like other nostalgic articles. So I've chosen to list off the 10 least memorable stars to be aboard the sinking ship that was WCW in 2000 and 2001.WCW had stars who had memorable ...

Two Sheds Review: Far Fetched Conspiracy Theories at FWA’s Hope & Glory

Posted by Julian Radbourne On August - 19 - 2011
It’s time to delve into the Frontier Wrestling Alliance Season One box set again, and this time we’re going back to August last year for the seventh event, and a filmed segment that caused a great deal of controversy and consternation in the British wrestling business at Hope and Glory. The show began with triple threat action between Marty Scurll, Sam Bailey and Kris Travis. This one had a rather strange beginning. Scurll and Travis seemed more intent on arguing about the ending of the match between their respective teams at the last show than actually wrestling, with Travis complaining ...
