WWE Royal Rumble 2013 is now within touching distance, and while John Cena, Sheamus and Randy Orton bicker back and forth, there can only be one winner of the Royal Rumble match on Jan. 29. The Rumble match is arguably the most exciting bout of the year for devout WWE followers, part-time fans, tipsters or former viewers still engrossed by the magic of the contest. While WWE appears to have done a fine job in preventing any certified favourites emerging ahead of the PPV, the Superstars who are hogging the limelight are largely past winners whose stars have previously shined brightly at this event. One ...

WWE Royal Rumble Preview: The Rock & John Cena Will Be Big Winners

Posted by John Canton On January - 26 - 2013
It's Royal Rumble time. There are five announced matches on this show, including one match that is for the pre-show. It doesn't shock me that only four matches are announced for the actual pay-per-view portion of the show when you consider the amount of time given to the matches. The Rumble match itself usually goes about 60 minutes (give or take), I expect CM Punk vs. The Rock to get over 30 minutes counting the video package, intros and the match. Then when you think about the tag title match and the World Title match, both of them could be ...
Recently crowned world heavyweight champion Alberto Del Rio will defend his title against Big Show at WWE’s Royal Rumble pay-per-view. Making a statement in this match is vital in solidifying Del Rio’s reign as champion and new role as a babyface. Del Rio’s face turn was weak. At December’s TLC PPV, Del Rio saved his announcer, Ricardo Rodriguez, and the Spanish announce team from 3MB. Considering the lack of heat Heath Slater, Drew McIntyre and Jinder Mahal have, the trio wasn’t the best choice to initialize Del Rio’s turn. Fortunately, the WWE quickly corrected itself by having the “Mexican Aristocrat” ...

Posted by The Doctor Chris Mueller On January - 26 - 2013
Rumors have been swirling for weeks about which surprise entrants we may see in this year's Royal Rumble. We may have a couple answers to that question. It is being reported by PWInsider (Via WrestleZone) that Shelton Benjamin and Carlito are in Arizona and rumored to be there for the Rumble match. PWInsider is reporting that former Intercontinental Champions Carlito and Shelton Benjamin are both in Phoenix, Arizona and will be competing in the 30 man Royal Rumble match. It was reported by many websites that both men are in Scottsdale, Arizona for an independent wrestling event for this weekend, which is ...

TNA News: Did Impact! Wrestling See Another Increase in Viewership?

Posted by Daniel Peragine On January - 26 - 2013
After last week's shocking heel turn by Tazz, who joined Aces and Eights after Bully Ray and Brooke Hogan's wedding, TNA Wrestling received a bit of good news after its viewership saw a jump on a heavily-hyped program.Fortunately for TNA, their momentum from last week's show did not slow down, as Impact! Wrestling saw another upswing performance in viewership (via TV By the Numbers). The Thursday, Jan. 24 edition of Impact! Wrestling landed 1.57 million viewers, which was almost exactly in line with last week's viewership. Last week's edition had 1.6 million viewers. CM Punk vs. The Rock: Why New Rock Is the Same as John Cena, or Much Worse

Posted by Shalaj Lawania On January - 26 - 2013
A lucrative forewarning to all Rocky fans:  this is going to be a rant of sorts. If you have a weak heart or an inability to read what I have to say (or well, type) before you fling yourself onto the hate train, I would suggest you don't read this for my happiness and yours. Many months back, I fostered helpless beliefs that The Rock was a horrible character to have in the WWE. Helpless because I really didn't have a solution to it back then. At that point, I believed the Rock didn't belong in there mainly because he shattered the ...

WWE Must Keep The Shield Out of the Royal Rumble Match

Posted by Cardiff Wanderer On January - 26 - 2013
The group known as The Shield has no place in the Royal Rumble match, and the WWE needs to keep them out of it.  These three men—Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins—claim to have entered the WWE with a purpose. They have vowed to subdue the injustices that they believe happen in the company every week. So The Shield would be significantly diverting from their ethos if they were to compete in the Rumble itself. Arguably, the group could enter in order to stop others from winning. However they would have far more freedom running in and blindsiding competitors ...
The 30-man Royal Rumble match is undoubtedly worth the price of admission for the WWE's 26th annual Royal Rumble pay-per-view event. But it isn't the only draw in this "Road to WrestleMania" event. There's also the WWE Championship match that features the return of The Rock to the promotion's main events. The Great One will attempt to knock off the long-running champion CM Punk in what is sure to be a thriller of a match. Even still, there is more to be found on this very deep and exciting card. Let's take a look at some of these under-the-radar matchups ...
