ECW Original Interview: WWF/WWE, WCW, Vince McMahon, Paul Heyman and More

Posted by Seth M. Guttenplan On March - 1 - 2013
On Feb. 27, 2013, I had the pleasure of speaking with former ECW original Jason Knight on my wrestling radio show, “Oh You Didn’t Know!?” on ProWrestlingPowerhouse.com Radio to discuss his early run in WWF, ECW, thoughts on the current product, Paul Heyman and more. My cohost John “JCD” Dimiceli asked Jason Knight about his different role in wrestling that is being a wrestler vs. being a manager. Knight explained that he did not enjoy being a manager at all, as it was just not very fun for him.One of the first questions I asked Jason Knight was to discuss ...
Big news from next week’s Raw, as it appears the WWE has locked in several legendary stars for its second "Old School" themed show. This is according to Dish Network's TV guide listing (seen here), which gives a brief synopsis of next week’s show. The Guide states: WWE Old School RAW. Featuring Ric Flair, Mean Gene Okerlund, Dusty Rhodes, JR & Hacksaw Jim Duggan. Overall, I am a bit surprised that Flair is coming back for a nostalgia show. Especially considering he was just on Raw a few weeks ago essentially "passing the torch" to The Miz. In fact, after that ...

CM Punk Unhappy About Facing The Undertaker at WrestleMania 29?

Posted by Sharon Glencross On March - 1 - 2013
The Undertaker is back. And as PWInsider recently noted, he may even make his return to television this coming Monday to build up his widely expected WrestleMania match with CM Punk. Interestingly, WrestlingInc.com has noted that Punk was asked about a potential WrestleMania bout with Undertaker in September of last year at the Ohio Comic Con. Needless to say, the former WWE champion didn't exactly seem thrilled with the prospect of trying to end "The Streak," saying bluntly at the 27-minute mark,I like being in situations where you don't know who's going to win, where there's drama. I think the Undertaker thing... whoever wrestles him, I feel it's ...
While there is no question that Randy Orton is still one of the biggest stars in the WWE, the past year hasn't been kind to him. It is clear that The Viper needs to make a change, and WrestleMania XXIX presents the perfect opportunity for that to happen.Orton's character has certainly run its course. The WWE made the right call when it broke up Legacy and gave Orton a huge face push because crowd reaction dictated it. However, wrestling is cyclical, and it's time for Orton to start fresh. The only thing that I can see saving him at this ...

WWE's undercard is filled to the brim with underutilized talent right now, and from R-Truth to Alex Riley, there are countless superstars lost in the shuffle who could still become main eventers. Jack Swagger is a perfect example of a wrestler who was going nowhere in his career, only to be given the push of life and earn the right to compete for the World Heavyweight Championship at WWE WrestleMania 29. In mid-2012, Swagger was written out of WWE storylines before taking a lengthy hiatus, only to be repackaged with his "Real American" gimmick in February and, alongside Zeb Colter, become one of ...
Since returning as a surprise entrant in the Royal Rumble back in January, Chris Jericho has certainly been impressive in the ring, but the WWE has yet to establish his role moving forward. There are obviously a lot of options on the table, but there is no question that Dolph Ziggler is his ideal WrestleMania opponent.Jericho and Ziggler engaged in a brief feud last summer that resulted in Y2J scoring a victory over The Showoff at SummerSlam. Ziggler got his revenge the following night on Raw, however, as he beat Jericho in a match, which resulted in Jericho being "fired" ...

Why Bringing Back Undertaker at Old School Raw Would Be a Smart Move by WWE

Posted by The Doctor Chris Mueller On March - 1 - 2013
The rumors have been circulating about The Undertaker's WrestleMania status for weeks, and they exploded following his return at a house show. Many wondered why WWE did not bring back Undertaker during Monday's Raw, but now we are starting to hear rumors that he will be returning next Monday during the special Old School Raw.Despite leaving WWE one fewer week to develop whatever feud he might have, this is actually a really good idea on WWE's part if it is indeed what they plan to do.Nobody in WWE exemplifies the Old School image and mentality more than The Undertaker, and having him ...

Kofi Kingston Is No Longer Main Event-Bound

Posted by Bill Pivetz On March - 1 - 2013
Over the last couple of years, many people have wanted to see Kofi Kingston pushed into the main event. He seemed to be on the verge of breaking through the proverbial glass ceiling in late 2009 and 2010 during his feud with Randy Orton. However, the closest Kingston got to the main event was participating in the WWE Championship Elimination Chamber match at the 2010 and 2012 events, and competing in Money in the Bank matches, but lost all of them. His career was on a steady incline: starting as a rookie, working his way up to the card, winning ...

Chris Jericho Praises Antonio Cesaro and the Shield in New WWE.com Interview

Posted by The Doctor Chris Mueller On March - 1 - 2013
Chris Jericho recently sat down with WWE.com to reveal some of his thoughts on his return at The Royal Rumble, staying in shape while not wrestling and some of the newer WWE superstars he likes. He mentioned a few specific people in the interview, which was given out of character with no heel or babyface storyline.Jericho mentioned The Shield and Antonio Cesaro specifically, which should be a huge compliment to the up-and-coming superstars. The included video from YouTube only shows half the interview for some reason, so if you would like to check out the full video from WWE.com click here.Having someone ...
