WWE Fantasy Booking: Survivor Series 2014

Posted by Dustin Murrell On April - 26 - 2014
Sure, the Survivor Series is seven months away. Sure, you never know if WWE will honor the traditional Survivor Series match gimmick. Sure, most—if not all—of the current storylines will be resolved by November. But it's called "Fantasy Booking" for a reason. With so many great things going on in WWE right now, it would be a perfect time to set up several traditional Survivor Series matches: feuds and factions abound and the roster is full of future Hall of Famers and main eventers. Aside from the Royal Rumble, a traditional Survivor Series match is my favorite annually recurring gimmick match that the ...

The Good, the Great and the Awesome from SmackDown 4/25/14

Posted by Erik Beaston On April - 26 - 2014
If Triple H, Batista and Randy Orton think reuniting as Evolution will be enough for them to overcome The Shield at Extreme Rules on May 4, they have another thing coming based on what unfolded Friday night during SmackDown. After Vickie Guerrero informed both live and television audiences that Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins would be taking on 11 other Superstars in a Handicap match main event, the Hounds of Justice set out to introduce a little anarchy to the evening's festivities. Attacking wrestlers and authority figures alike, The Shield had what may go down in history as the game-changing ...

WWE Programming’s Best Match for Week of April 26

Posted by Brad Jones On April - 26 - 2014
In a middling week that didn't do a great deal to inspire confidence that Extreme Rules will live up to the excellent WrestleMania 30, a few matches shone through while many fell flat.   Honourable Mentions For all the slow build to the dissolution of the Real Americans and the huge potential of pitting Paul Heyman against Zeb Colter, it's difficult to imagine that the match between Jack Swagger and Cesaro on SmackDown will be their last encounter—but it's a promising sign of things to come. Cesaro is one of the most consistently entertaining in-ring performers in WWE at the moment, and while Swagger ...

WWE SmackDown Results: Winners, Grades, Reaction and Highlights from April 25

Posted by The Doctor Chris Mueller On April - 26 - 2014
Every week on Bleacher Report, I take an in-depth look at SmackDown to recap the action, offer analysis and grade the matches, segments and anything else that takes place on the show. I also provide some predictions on the direction of storylines. This week's show featured many storylines, but in the end, it was all about The Shield. The trio was set to take on another 11 Superstars in a handicap match, but before the match started, they had taken out six of their opponents to make their odds much better. Even though The Shield dominated throughout the night, there were more highlights that made ...

WWE NXT Takeover: Early Preview, Spoilers and Predictions

Posted by David Bixenspan On April - 25 - 2014
Last night in Winter Park, Florida, WWE announced the main matches for the WWE NXT Takeover special on WWE Network on May 29. If NXT Arrival is any indication, there will be a few more matches that aren't advertised, but the key bouts are, according to a WrestlingInc.com report from the tapings: Adrian Neville (c) vs. Tyson Kidd for the NXT Championship. Natalya vs. Charlotte for the vacant NXT Women's Championship. Sami Zayn vs. Tyler Breeze in a title eliminator for a shot at the NXT Championship. Tyson Kidd is the perfect opponent for Adrian Neville right now. Neville is an incredible high flyer, ...
Support for Daniel Bryan from an unlikely source and a tease of a long-anticipated dream match highlights WWE's social media this week. Steve Austin, NXT's Bayley, Evolution and JTG also star in the most intriguing recent WWE-related tweets, Instagram photos and viral videos. Austin received some mainstream media coverage thanks to his no-holds-barred answer to the question of gay marriage. "Stone Cold" has never been known as bashful whether it be in real life or with a live mic on Raw. It's not surprising then how uncompromisingly he approached the issue of gay marriage on his podcast. His NSFW support of marriage equality ...

The Good, the Great and the Awesome from NXT 4/24/14

Posted by Erik Beaston On April - 25 - 2014
The NXT Universe was injected with some new blood Thursday night, as Tyson Kidd returned to the show and made it very clear that he plans to seize the opportunities given to him and make an impact on the WWE Network. His win over Mason Ryan was a step in the right direction. Speaking of making an impact, second-generation Diva Charlotte did just that, notching the biggest win of her young career by pinning current WWE Divas champion Paige in tag team competition. With a tournament to crown a new NXT Women's champion beginning next week, she heads into battle riding a ...

Cesaro Can’t Remain in Limbo Between Babyface and Heel

Posted by Ryan Dilbert On April - 25 - 2014
WWE is tying a brick to Cesaro's ankle if it doesn't decide if he's a babyface or heel. His current fence-straddling role holds him back. He's unable to fully dive into his character and the audience is unsure of how to react to him. Superstars of the past have toyed with gray areas in their alignments before, but Cesaro's case is different. The company is simply not committing to how it portrays "The King of Swing." He's aligned with Paul Heyman, one of the most hated men in the WWE landscape. That makes him a villain by association, right? Rapper Wale is one of ...

Evolution’s Reunion Will Fall Flat in Feud vs. the Shield

Posted by Sharon Glencross On April - 25 - 2014
After breaking up nearly a decade ago, Evolution—Randy Orton, Dave Batista and Triple H—have reformed to take on The Shield. According to the storyline, the two teams are now set to clash on May 4 at the Extreme Rules pay-per-view. Granted, Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins are on a roll right now as rebellious, anti-authority babyfaces. Is there a cooler or more exciting act in wrestling right now? But Evolution? Eh, not so much. While it may initially have sounded like an intriguing prospect—in the early 2000s, Evolution were one of the biggest and most dominant heel stables around—after a few ...
