WWE Survivor Series 2014: Power Ranking Every Match at PPV

Posted by Erik Beaston On November - 24 - 2014
Survivor Series 2014 is in the books, and The Authority is no more thanks in large part to the never-say-die attitude of Dolph Ziggler and the debut of Sting in World Wrestling Entertainment. The main event of the show was one of the year's best, while WWE Creative used undercard matches such as Dean Ambrose vs. Bray Wyatt and AJ Lee vs. Nikki Bella to set up future angles and matches. Damien Mizdow captured his first championship since arriving in WWE, The Bunny scored his first pay-per-view victory and former Divas champion Paige saw her team suffer a clean sweep at the ...

Comparing the Breakups of the Wyatt Family and the Shield

Posted by Ryan Dilbert On November - 24 - 2014
WWE created a blueprint of how and when to pull apart a faction with The Shield but veered from that plan with the underwhelming end of The Wyatt Family. Every wrestler who collided in the six-man tag match at Elimination Chamber is now on his own. The groups have since dissolved, and WWE hit a home run in its handling of The Shield's last moments but a trickle of a ground ball with The Wyatt Family's demise. The company freed Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns at just the right time. They are all benefiting from the momentum their breakup created. Reigns ...

WWE Survivor Series 2014 Results: Worst Booking Decisions from PPV

Posted by Erik Beaston On November - 24 - 2014
The Survivor Series pay-per-view was, for the most part, creatively successful. After a year of dominating storylines, The Authority was banished from power, while Dolph Ziggler finally enjoyed the marquee match booking he so rightfully deserved and Sting made his monumental debut. Even the Divas Championship bout called back to previous events to supply the emphasis for that contest's finish. For the first time in months, there is considerable buzz coming out of a show that very much succeeded in getting fans talking about the product and likely sold a number of subscriptions to WWE Network. But that doesn't mean there weren't a ...

Sting’s WWE Debut Is the Kind of Moment Fans Will Never See Again

Posted by Ryan Dilbert On November - 24 - 2014
Savor Sting's arrival to WWE as much as you can; that convergence of star power and anticipation is a one-time-only moment. In a world long controlled by WWE, Sting was the anomaly. His career veered away from that company. As a result, he was the easy answer to the question of "Who is the biggest name to never work for Vince McMahon?" The wrestling industry's evolution during Sting's career negates the possibility of another marquee name on his level building a career to the heights that he did without WWE. There won't be a wrestler who can show up as Sting did ...

WWE Survivor Series 2014: Biggest Talking Points Following Major Event

Posted by Sharon Glencross On November - 24 - 2014
While it may have been a patchy pay-per-view—the matches weren't great, and it came off as a glorified edition of Raw at points—Survivor Series nonetheless left fans with numerous talking points and a great deal of things to discuss. In the midcard, Nikki Bella won the Divas Championship from AJ Lee. It will be rather interesting to see in the upcoming weeks how the Total Divas star copes with having to carry the division. She's a great personality, for sure, but her wrestling skills have always left something to be desired. Lee's future is also up in the air. A recent report ...

WWE Survivor Series 2014: Results That Will Have Biggest Impact at TLC

Posted by Sharon Glencross On November - 24 - 2014
While drastically changing the landscape of WWE programming—Triple H and Stephanie McMahon are now out of power—the Survivor Series show also set up several major matches for next month’s TLC pay-per-view. The inconclusive ending of the Dean Ambrose vs. Bray Wyatt bout—Ambrose got himself disqualified after bringing in various weapons, including a table, to beat down his nemesis—set up their rematch at TLC. In fact, WWE announced soon after that the two men would square off in Ohio in a Tables, Ladders & Chairs match. It’s the first bout announced for the card. Granted, the result was rather frustrating—surely a pay-per-view match shouldn’t ...
The crowd at WWE Survivor Series 2014 is serenading Triple H and Stephanie McMahon at the moment these WWE Superstar Power Rankings are being written.  The Authority is now out of power as Team Cena, with a huge assist from The Icon Sting, defeated Team Authority in a traditional Survivor Series match, with Dolph Ziggler getting three eliminations, including the final pinfall on Seth Rollins. But that wasn't the only traditional Survivor Series match of the evening.  Paige and Alicia Fox each led a team of four Divas.  Team Fox won via a clean sweep, with each member pinning a member ...

Sting Debut Was a Perfect Example of WWE’s Business Acumen

Posted by Tom Beasley On November - 24 - 2014
The Internet is seemingly full of people determined to criticise Vince McMahon for his running of the WWE—a business that has sat at the top of professional wrestling for decades. On Sunday, however, they were forced to eat their words as WWE pulled the trigger on one of their most recognisable talent acquisitions in the shape of WCW legend Sting. He debuted during the main event of Survivor Series, delivering his signature Scorpion Death Drop to Triple H and securing the victory for Team Cena. Many fans would've been pleased with Sting's debut, regardless of timing. Those who saw Sting tearing up WCW ...
