WWE Extreme Rules 2015 Results: Re-Booking Full Card from PPV

Posted by James Moffat On April - 28 - 2015
WWE Extreme Rules was a pay-per-view that seemed to suffer from a lack of exposure in the lead-up to Sunday's event in Chicago.  Following a tremendous WrestleMania 31 event, WWE had little time to hit the reset button and give us stories to care about and feuds to believe. Like many pay-per-views, there were hits and misses this past weekend.  The overwhelming story, however, wasn't who competed, but who didn't: WWE announced earlier in the day that Intercontinental Champion Daniel Bryan was not medically cleared to wrestle, leaving a hole in the card. What this means for the IC Title picture remains to ...
There was no greater heel in professional wrestling at the start of 2010 than CM Punk. The leader of the Straight Edge Society, he preached his superiority over the fans who chose to give into the vices of alcohol and drugs. He was very much a holier-than-thou persona who surrounded himself with apostles (his words) in the form of Luke Gallows, Joseph Mercury and Serena. A former three-time world champion by the time the new year began, he was hellbent on spreading his message to the WWE Universe and had no problem mixing it up with anyone who got in his way. Daniel Bryan Should Remain a Midcard Talent Upon Return from Injury

Posted by Alfred Konuwa On April - 28 - 2015
The Yes Movement, as personified by Daniel Bryan and his improbable journey to the top of WWE, is dead. Okay, maybe not dead. No storyline or character ever really dies at WWE. But the days of Bryan as a potential main event WWE Superstar are well behind him. I noted on this week's PodNasty Wrestling Podcast that in hindsight, WWE officials were justified in their  resistance to the Yes Movement. Following back-to-back debilitating injuries post-WrestleMania, Bryan simply cannot be a top star at this point in his career. After his early elimination from the 2015 Royal Rumble, fans freaked out to nearly biblical ...

WWE Raw Results: Biggest Winners, Losers and Moments from April 27

Posted by Erik Beaston On April - 28 - 2015
In the wake of a brutal Last Man Standing match that saw him chokeslammed through two tables and knocked out with a single punch, only to emerge victorious following a jaw-dropping spear through the announce table, Roman Reigns arrived to Green Bay, Wisconsin, for Monday Night Raw hellbent on returning to the WWE World Heavyweight Championship picture. He kicked off the night's show by interrupting Seth Rollins and Kane's incessant bickering, then teamed with Randy Orton in the main event, delivering a Superman punch to Rollins that set him up for the RKO that earned the babyfaces a victory. To further the ...

WWE Extreme Rules 2015: Feuds That Will Continue Through Payback

Posted by Aaron Bower On April - 28 - 2015
Despite a hit-and-miss show at Extreme Rules, don't consider it a certainty that too many feuds from the show are going to go away just yet. In fact, given how we're only just removed from WrestleMania, there's still plenty left in some of the rivalries we saw at Extreme Rules. And given how the show wasn't as blockbuster as many expected it to be, that's perhaps no bad thing.  We've already had confirmation that two of those feuds are definitely going to carry on. John Cena vs. Rusev has been announced for the third straight pay-per-view, and Randy Orton's rivalry with Seth ...

Verne Gagne, WWE Hall of Famer, Dies at Age 89

Posted by Mike Chiari On April - 28 - 2015
WWE Hall of Famer and American Wrestling Association founder Verne Gagne died late Monday night at the age of 89.   WWE.com was among the first to announce the 10-time AWA champion's passing. After being a standout amateur wrestler at the University of Minnesota and an alternate in freestyle wrestling on the 1948 United States Olympic team, Gagne embarked on a long and successful career that was highlighted by the AWA from 1960 through 1991. In addition to being the owner and promoter of the company, Gagne was also its top star in the ring. He gave Hulk Hogan his first big-time exposure ...
Even though Randy Orton failed in his quest to claim the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Extreme Rules, it doesn't mean a step back in fortunes. Indeed, the events on Raw which saw Orton locked in as fighting Seth Rollins again at Payback (with Roman Reigns thrown in for good measure) suggest that, but there was enough to prove that Orton has retained his momentum prior to that, anyway. The way his eventual face turn was done was pretty much perfect booking by the WWE, for starters. Instead of doing a simple, rapid face turn on Seth Rollins, the WWE took a ...

The fans have spoken, and they're apparently already itching to see Seth Rollins lose the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. During Monday night's edition of Raw, the WWE let the fans vote for Rollins' next opponent on the WWE app, and they overwhelmingly selected a Triple Threat match against Roman Reigns and Randy Orton for the title at Payback next month: The three were all involved in a tag match to close out Raw. Orton and Reigns beat Kane and Rollins. Reigns delivered a Spear to Rollins for good measure after the match. The Brock Lesnar Guy caught Rollins' reaction upon hearing the poll ...
On the heels of Extreme Rules, WWE rolled into Green Bay, Wisconsin, for Monday Night Raw. The issues between Seth Rollins and Kane continued to threaten the dominance of The Authority, while both Roman Reigns and Randy Orton made it abundantly clear that they are coming for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. The King of the Ring tournament's reintroduction dominated the in-ring portion of Monday's broadcast as Dolph Ziggler, Bad News Barrett, R-Truth, Stardust, Dean Ambrose, Sheamus, Luke Harper and Neville all vied for the right to advance to Tuesday night's semifinal round, airing exclusively on the WWE Network. The feud between John ...
