WWE SummerSlam is coming up on August 21, and fans are expecting big things. Brock Lesnar versus Randy Orton is enough to bring any longtime fan to the table, as the fellow OVW graduates are finally coming full circle. Both men are world traveled Superstars and top guys in their own right; this is their time to take the spotlight against each other. This is the best match WWE could book for both guys, and it should be a memorable one indeed. Dean Ambrose versus Dolph Ziggler is one that many did not see coming, but it has the potential to steal the ...
A showman, storyteller and star allowed WWE NXT to restock its reserve of talent as Bobby Roode made his TV debut for the brand on Wednesday night. The arrival of the former TNA world champion crowds NXT's top tier. Suddenly, there's one more major name to push past in order to summit the mountain.  Actually, there's two. Hideo Itami returned to action on Wednesday after over a year on the shelf due to a shoulder injury. The space his absence created under the spotlight is suddenly gone. All the worries fans had about NXT's star power after the WWE draft all seem silly ...
The WWE brand split offered Dolph Ziggler and Bray Wyatt a greater share of the stage, and both men went to work right away to take full advantage. In their clash on Tuesday's SmackDown, Ziggler and Wyatt thrived as rivals eyeing a WWE World Championship opportunity. The Showoff and The Eater of Worlds kicked and clawed their ways to one of the week's best matches. They looked comfortable in the main event. Ziggler's triumph, though, wasn't powerful enough to beat out a thriller from the Cruiserweight Classic. The top bout from the first round of that tournament outdid everything that aired on Raw, SmackDown and ...
WWE is trying its best to offer more alternative programming as the brand extension soldiers on. Thus far, the more glaring changes have featured more squash matches, smaller wrestlers in the main event, (potentially) more championships and, of course, Dolph Ziggler.             Dolph War I'd be surprised if Ziggler defeated Dean Ambrose at SummerSlam. Ziggler's ship came and sailed away, and while SmackDown is attempting to integrate fresh faces in the main event picture, this seems like more of a rehash. I do like the changes in Ziggler's character since becoming a No. 1 contender, however, as he has ...
The WWE SummerSlam 2016 card is filling up in a hurry, leaving Superstars like Kevin Owens and Bray Wyatt still in search of opponents. Not everyone on the roster is going to make the cut, but it's hard to imagine WWE going forward with its second-biggest pay-per-view of the year minus potential megastars like Owens and Wyatt. As deserving as those men are of prominent places on the SummerSlam card, space is growing increasingly limited. On Tuesday's SmackDown, Apollo Crews earned a shot at The Miz's Intercontinental Championship. That same night, John Cena challenged AJ Styles to a sequel of their Money in ...

WWE NXT Results: Biggest Winners, Losers and Moments from August 3

Posted by Erik Beaston On August - 4 - 2016
It was a glorious debut for Bobby Roode Wednesday night when he set foot inside the NXT ring and made it clear to fans, management and wrestlers alike that he did not need the brand as much as it needed him. In the process, he established himself as one of the biggest winners of the night. Roode was long one of the most valuable stars on the TNA roster, as great a technician as he was a talker. After multiple instances of staying with the Nashville-based promotion rather than taking the leap of faith and arriving in WWE, Roode finally signed ...

Roman Reigns’ Demotion to WWE’s Midcard Is Best Way to Regain Lost Momentum

Posted by The Doctor Chris Mueller On August - 4 - 2016
Roman Reigns has had a tense relationship with the WWE Universe ever since management selected him to be the next big thing, but WWE may have found a way to remedy the situation. The August 1 episode of Raw featured a United States Championship match between Mark Henry and Rusev, but it was what happened after the bout that mattered. As The Bulgarian Brute proceeded to deliver another one of his trademark anti-America promos, Reigns came out to defend the honor of this country. The big difference between this moment and every other time Reigns has entered an arena over the past two ...
Bobby Roode debuted, Hideo Itami returned and Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano moved one step closer to a tag team title opportunity as NXT looked to rebuild following a WWE draft that shook the brand to its core. With Finn Balor, Alexa Bliss, Carmella, American Alpha, Eva Marie and others headed to the main roster, the former developmental brand was tasked with creating new stars and using established ones to generate interest. Roode got off to a hot start, creating a persona for himself that screams, "bad guy," while Itami looked phenomenal in his first outing. How did their work grade out Wednesday ...

WWE Cruiserweight Classic 2016 Results: Winners, Grades, Reaction for August 3

Posted by The Doctor Chris Mueller On August - 3 - 2016
The WWE Cruiserweight Classic wrapped up its first round this week with some incredible action from some of the most talented wrestlers in the whole tournament. Current NXT stars Rich Swann, Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano participated alongside an eclectic group of Superstars from around the world. If you only watch one episode of the Cruiserweight Classic, it should be this one. Two of the matches were better than anything we saw on Raw and SmackDown this week, with the main event being an instant classic between two men who are normally partners. Let's take a look at the final four bouts from ...

WWE SmackDown: Burning Questions to Address After August 2 Show

Posted by Ryan Dilbert On August - 3 - 2016
As fans saw on Tuesday's WWE SmackDown, the rules of the brand split are still fluid, and the SummerSlam card is still incomplete.  SmackDown security failed to prevent Raw Superstar Brock Lesnar from storming onto the blue brand. Just a week after WWE separated its worlds, they collided. Whether that is a sign of things to come or simply a function of Lesnar's feud with Randy Orton is one of the questions awaiting answers after Tuesday's show.  Other sources of uncertainty came from what WWE has in mind for Bray Wyatt, Apollo Crews and Eva Marie. Is The New Face of Fear headed for ...
