5 Reasons Why TNA Staying in Business Is Good for WWE

Posted by The Doctor Chris Mueller On December - 8 - 2016
Rumors have been floating around for years about the possibility of TNA shutting down, and 2016 saw the company come closer to those rumors becoming a reality than ever before. There was once a time when TNA was on the rise and seen as a possible threat to WWE. The company even tried to start a new Monday Night War before realizing it bit off more than it could chew. At first, TNA offered a fresh alternative for wrestling fans to see their favorite former WWE Superstars and dozens of rising stars compete in one place. As time went on, changes in management and ...

WWE Raw vs. SmackDown: Analyzing Who Won the Week of December 5

Posted by Erik Beaston On December - 8 - 2016
The battle for WWE brand supremacy continued this week, and Raw and SmackDown found themselves on different paths. The blue brand was on the heels of a TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs pay-per-view that saw championships change hands and a major turn alter the course of the main event, while Raw was gearing up for its Roadblock: End of the Line event. Both wound up producing less-than-stellar shows. One appeared to be in a holding pattern, while the other produced one of its worst episodes to date. Which was able to overcome its deficits and deliver a decent broadcast this week, catapulting it ...

What lies ahead on WWE SmackDown for The Miz, Natalya and Heath Slater? Tuesday's edition of the blue brand built on the events of the TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs pay-per-view, hinting at new narratives on the horizon. Are new feuds in the works? Are Natalya and Slater bound to take drastic new directions? The Miz's interactions with Dean Ambrose in Houston could be a peek at what's to come for the intercontinental champion. Now that Dolph Ziggler is out of his way, The Hollywood A-Lister is in need of a new enemy—lunatic or otherwise. Natalya denied what Carmella accused her of. Slater looks to ...

WWE Roadblock 2016: Predicting Match Card, Most Likely Swerves at PPV

Posted by James Moffat On December - 7 - 2016
Roadblock: End of the Line closes out WWE's pay-per-view calendar for the year, but its matches are sure to have repercussions as the company heads into 2017.  So far, three matches have been announced, with two of Raw's major titles—the Universal Championship and the Raw Women's Championship—at stake. The rest of the card is to be determined, but plenty of storylines have evolved over the last few weeks, allowing us to make educated guesses as to who will round out the Roadblock event.  Here's a look at the announced matches for Roadblock: End of the Line, as well as those bouts likely ...
There is plenty of truth to the maniacal rants The Miz has spouted on WWE SmackDown. He has indeed aided the Intercontinental Championship's relevance.     Normally, the loudmouth heels who populate the WWE landscape fire off hyperbolic speeches that are best dismissed as hollow tirades. Not with The Miz.            During his now-famous diatribe on Talking Smack in August, The Miz said of the IC crown, "I swear to you, I promise you—it will be the most relevant title on SmackDown Live."        The arrogant, wannabe Hollywood star has worked to make that come true. He has helped change the ...
1. The Rise of The Wicked Witch  Alexa Bliss took the advanced heel class when she was at the WWE Performance Center. The new SmackDown women's champion has embraced and mastered the art of being a wrestling villain. She's convincingly repulsed by everything around her. She's arrogant, vicious and unafraid to take verbal jabs at the whole women's division. In her first few months on the main roster, Bliss has looked like a bona fide star. Jason Martin of Cageside Seats called her "the steal of the WWE draft." Wrestling Inc dubbed her 2016's most improved female competitor: It's hard to argue either statement. When Bliss has clashed ...
With TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs in the rearview mirror, WWE's SmackDown Live brand attempted to make sense of the events that unfolded this past Sunday night, generating some true winners and losers along the way. There was The Lone Wolf, who scored another convincing win, the tag team champions, who successfully retained their titles, and the women's champion, who celebrated her title victory. Yet none of them can be described as the night's biggest winner. That honor went to an insufferable villain whose year has ranked among the best in the industry. The biggest loser? A main event attraction whose character ...

WWE 205 Live Results: Winners, Grades, Reaction and Highlights from December 6

Posted by The Doctor Chris Mueller On December - 7 - 2016
The first episode of 205 Live got the show off to a great start, and the second episode kept the momentum going with three more entertaining matches. After Rich Swann defeated The Brian Kendrick for the Cruiserweight Championship last week, Kendrick invoked his rematch clause right away. Both Noam Dar vs. Cedric Alexander and Jack Gallagher vs. Ariya Daivari have the potential to turn into storylines after what we saw this week. Having multiple feuds running at the same time will help build more stars for the division so the title scene can stay competitive instead of the same two men dominating it. Let's ...
AJ Styles canceled his match against James Ellsworth on Tuesday on SmackDown Live just two days after his victory over Dean Ambrose at Tables, Ladders & Chairs.  Styles walked out in a boot over his left foot and broke the news, via WWE: Ellsworth proceeded to mock Styles for his injury, as shared by WWE Universe:  Ambrose emerged and put Ellsworth in his place, via WWE: Ellsworth earned the title shot by beating The Phenomenal One in a ladder match on SmackDown that also resulted in the plucky underdog securing a full-time contract for the blue brand. Ambrose aided Ellsworth in that match, just as ...
