ROH Makes Huge Announcement For Glory By Honor IX

Posted by Ashley Morris On August - 3 - 2010
There's no need to beat around the bush. Apparently, at the conclusion of tonight's episode of ROH on HDNet , a dream match was announced for the company's upcoming iPay-Per-View on September 11. Click here to see the video of this MAJOR announcement. That's right, ladies and gentlemen. Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin are coming to ROH, and they're set to face The Kings of Wrestling—Claudio Castagnoli and Chris Hero. Finally, something to really get excited about in pro wrestling! In a moment of self-congratulatory and pompous showboating, I submit to my loyal and opinionated B/R family, my piece from April 23, 2010. In ...
At the conclusion of last week’s episode of TNA iMPACT! , I found myself shaking my head and fists profusely at the streaming feed on my computer screen. After eight years of being in business, the best thing TNA can come up with is yet another ECW-themed storyline/pay per view? My friends, I must be honest and admit that I take a small level of pleasure in telling you that this move is quite possibly the most asinine direction any pro-wrestling company has taken since the firing of Bryan Danielson. How many people out there are actually pining for the fiftieth ...
On June 11, 2010, a dark cloud suddenly appeared over the WWE Universe. This ominous cloud spread quickly, shadowing everything beneath it with an unnerving sense of danger and impending peril. It was on this day that Bryan Danielson, then known as Daniel Bryan in the WWE, was released from his contract with the company. The chaos that ensued has been well-documented on various websites, including Bleacher Report. Danielson’s unceremonious release from the WWE has caused quite the furor in the small yet mighty internet wrestling community, as well as the much larger pro wrestling universe. The ripples from the tidal wave of his departure—in ...
Mainstream women’s professional wrestling is at an all time low. Several very talented B/R contributors have crafted pieces that spoke volumes about what various companies could do to salvage their respective women’s division.  With methods ranging from giving women wrestlers their own show, to allowing them to actually wrestle, folks have plenty of great things to say about this mess. Unfortunately, these changes—as wonderful as they are—mean nothing in the long run if we continue to view women’s matches as bathroom breaks. In order for any women’s division to get better, the fans must change their perspective of the product.  Once we view women’s wrestling ...
The Internet wrestling community has been set on fire with rumors, speculation, adulation, and utter shock thanks to the WWE creative team that slaves tirelessly for fans on each and every Monday night! Last night’s episode of RAW left fans breathless for two reasons: the closing segment of the show that featured an unwarranted attack on John Cena, referees, announcers, commentators, and the ringside area by the Season One NXT rookies; and the two and a half hour complete clusterfunk of a show that preceded that closing segment. Several B/R writers have already commented at length on the magnitude ...

My Two Cents: Daniel Bryan Is The WWE’s Febreeze

Posted by Ashley Morris On May - 19 - 2010
“You’re just a poor man’s replacement for J.R!” The words of a frustrated Daniel Bryan echoed throughout the WWE Universe last night during what had to be the best episode of WWE NXT to air to date. I imagined that pro wrestling fans watching the program at home stood to their feet and cheered when Bryan, one of three NXT rookies eliminated from the “competition” last week, grabbed announcer Michael Cole’s skinny little neck and bullied him to the ground. I know I did. Actually, I stood up, screamed like a school girl, ...

My Two Cents: Vince Russo Plus Eric Bischoff Equals Doom For TNA

Posted by Ashley Morris On May - 18 - 2010
“…There were other issues between Eric and me.  Our philosophies were just different.  Eric was always a main event guy; I was always a mid-card and below guy.   “That’s where Eric and I had massive, unfixable differences.  Eric wanted to kowtow to the big stars, and give in to them at every turn, and I wanted to give the younger talent an opportunity…   “To anybody with half a brain, it was only a matter of time before this thing was going to erupt…” (Russo, 100.)   These words came from Vince Russo himself in his most recent ...

My Two Cents: The End of Bubba the Love Sponge’s Days in TNA

Posted by Ashley Morris On May - 1 - 2010
When I published my first article on Bleacher Report, the editor that carefully combed through the piece submitted his corrections and warned me to stay away from "blog speak."  Essentially, contributions to the site were meant to be crafted and worded in the same fashion as articles you would find in magazines or newspapers. I took that editor's note to heart.  Ever since that first article, I've attempted to draft pieces that begin with a precise thought and logical, thought provoking supporting facts that justify whatever it was I wanted to share with the faithful Bleacher Report universe. I reserved my "b/c" ...

I’m Just Sayin’: A Dissenting View of The WWE’s Spring Cleaning

Posted by Ashley Morris On April - 23 - 2010
What the hell?! To be honest with you, I’m still speechless nine hours after first hearing the news of the WWE’s recent locker room purging. By now, all of you have heard about the seven future endeavored superstars that incurred the wrath of Vince McMahon’s tear-away pink slip pad.  And surely by now you all have read the numerous articles from our loyal Bleacher Report contributors, analysts, and featured columnists that have expressed their shock, anger, and displeasure with the WWE’s layoffs. Most fans here in Bleacher Report have already accepted the notion that Shelton Benjamin, Mickie James, and Katie Lea will more ...

Anatomy of a Championship Era: Rob Van Dam vs. Jack Swagger

Posted by Ashley Morris On April - 22 - 2010
On Monday, April 19, 2010, TNA fans around the world rejoiced as Rob Van Dam defeated A.J. Styles to become the 10th TNA World Heavyweight Champion.  In fact, Van Dam’s victory over Styles served as the cherry on top of a beautifully crafted banana split that a lot of fans justifiably believe was the best episode of TNA iMPACT since…well…ever! The Van Dam Era is a well-needed, life saving penicillin shot in the backside for TNA at this point, as we can all now clearly see supporters and detractors more invested and intrigued in what’s going on in the Impact ...
