WWE Raw Review: WrestleMania Updates, SmackDown Repeats and More

Posted by Big Nasty On March - 18 - 2014
Hot on the heels of last week's announcement that Daniel Bryan will be in the main event of WrestleMania if he defeats Triple H, Trips dropped that bomb that if he goes over Bryan then it will be him in the main event of WrestleMania, thus adding another layer to The Authority storyline. For some reason Kane decided to trust The Shield after getting a beatdown from them this past Friday on SmackDown, and we were treated to the exact same results on Monday. It makes you wonder what kind of stock WWE has invested in SmackDown if they reuse the same segments ...
Just when it seemed WWE's stock couldn't get any hotter, rumors of an unlikely merger between WWE and AMC Networks reportedly led to a significant stock uptick of 7 percent.  It's worth mentioning that talk of a WWE-AMC merger is merely a rumor that is best sourced to a UK financial blog. The fact that this story is appearing in the Never Say Never series speaks to its unlikelihood, and according to PWInsider (via WrestlingInc), WWE officials have reportedly already dismissed talk of this merger internally.   Still, after the aforementioned traction this hole-in-the-wall story gained in the finance world, this isn't your average rumor. Prominent wrestling dirtsheets, ...
WWE once again debunked the age-old myth that it doesn't listen to fans this past week on Raw. This week, fans (kind of) took center stage as the Yes Movement hijacked Raw. The memorable scene led to Triple H not only agreeing to face Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania, but also with Daniel Bryan receiving an elusive title shot at WrestleMania should he win. The Usos began Week 2 of their tag team championship run against RybAxel, but just one week after defeating the New Age Outlaws, it appears they are all out of competition. Once their feud is finished with the ...
No character has been protected by WWE more than Undertaker. It's fitting the undead wrestler is not the last of a dying breed, but rather the last of a dead breed. Pro wrestling characters are no longer preserved the way they once were. Even on-camera cult leader Bray Wyatt has a Twitter account.  To this day, an out-of-character interview with the phenom is news in and of itself. Cameras are one of the only reasons he's is able to be seen out of character. In an era where kayfabe is dead, the Undertaker character continues to endure eternally.  Another unofficial tradition that has ...

WWE Outsmarts Chicago Fans by Daring Them to Hijack Raw

Posted by Big Nasty On March - 6 - 2014
The date of March 3, 2014 may as well have been doomsday internally for WWE. Since CM Punk's unplanned exit (via TMZ) back in January, savvy wrestling fans quickly circled that date on their calendars. Given the recent pattern of fans taking over shows, an art form now officially known as hijacking, Raw in Punk's hometown of Chicago was a surefire candidate for an organized riot. If the Allstate Arena were a Boeing 747, the WWE fans/CM Punk apologists who purchased a ticket were going to be D.B. Cooper. Unfortunately for them, WWE was ready for their every trick, and by night's end, ...

WWE Raw Review: Hijack Raw, CM Punk, Batista and More

Posted by Big Nasty On March - 4 - 2014
CM Punk! CM Punk! CM Punk! CM Punk!  Now that that's out of your system, let's move on. Raw in Chicago was not the hijacked show many expected it to be.In fact, it was WWE's use of reverse psychology, goading fans into hijacking Raw through Daniel Bryan, that resulted in a surprisingly civil show.  The absence of CM Punk may have been seen as a disappointment to some, but the Wyatts and the Shield made up for it by putting on a match nearly as good as their instant classic Elimination Chamber.  With Seth Rollins standing on the sidelines, as the Shield suffered their ...
All good things must come to an end, and in WWE, several of those things may culminate in WrestleMania matches. WWE has gone all in on the split formula, and given tension teased among many alliances, WrestleMania XXX more closely resembles WWE's In Your House pay-per-view Good Friends, Better Enemies. Potential breakups are all the rage, and this very standard angle figures to be a focal point of WWE programming. Elimination Chamber already saw Titus O'Neil defeat former tag team partner Darren Young in a foreshadowing of what's to come in April. By then, The Shield, in all likelihood, will be disbanded. The once-dominant ...
Google "March 3 CM Punk." Go ahead. I promise this article will still be here when you get back. Any search result worth its salt immediately speculates on Punk's whereabouts and how the Rawmageddon show, from Chicago's Allstate Arena, will play out. For more shameless fun, try it on Twitter. That part we can do together: @WWE @TripleH Is Cm Punk going to be in Chicago March 3? #NXTArRIVAL — Joel Santiago (@jsantiago26) February 27, 2014 Cant wait for chicago march 3 bc CM Punk returns! CM Punk chants! Omg #RAW — AJPunk❤️ (@ajpunkloverr) February 25, 2014 March 3 Raw Is In Chicago !! Cm Punk Hometown ! ...

WWE WTF: DISH vs. WWE Network, the Miz, DDP Yoga and More

Posted by Big Nasty On February - 27 - 2014
WTF is DISH Network doing without Elimination Chamber? How long will the Miz’s dream marriage last? And just how much is DDP Yoga really worth? WCW legend Diamond Dallas Page made an appearance on ABC’s popular Shark Tank. The wrestler-turned-yogi-for-profit was turned down by all four investors despite claiming his business made $800,000 in profit. If it ain’t broke, don’t stretch it. DISH Network continued its cold war on WWE with reports that the major cable provider refused to offer Elimination Chamber this past weekend. DISH Network issued the following statement, via Zap2it.com, on its controversial decision: WWE has chosen to launch a ...

Raw Review: John Cena Injured, 2 Big Returns and More

Posted by Big Nasty On February - 25 - 2014
Green Bay, Wisconsin played host to a hot Raw show that was highlighted by appearances from Hulk Hogan, Brock Lesnar and The Undertaker. Hulk Hogan was used perfectly as a WWE Network pitchman who kicked off the show to a resounding ovation. More importantly, he did not overstay his welcome and will be best used as a special attraction to add value to WWE programming. The Shield’s tension followed the pattern of two steps forward and one step back, with the group appearing to be on the same page. This will only sweeten the pot once their feud inevitably takes center stage. John ...
