What 3 WWE Superstars Would Cause Competitive Noise If They Jumped to GFW?
On July - 9 - 2015
On episode 171 of Pancakes and Powerslams this past Tuesday, a great topic was talked about concerning what type of impact GFW would have to make to become a legitimate competitor for WWE. As of now, there is nothing that stands out about the promotion that would make some serious buzz. The affiliation with New Japan Pro Wrestling for Wrestle Kingdom 9 was an excellent way to start off, but NJPW is mostly doing business with ROH as far as the United States is concerned.
Regarding TNA, Jeff Jarrett appearing on Impact Wrestling was a good surprise that received a mild ...
An NXT Invasion Would Add an Intriguing Layer to the Cena-Owens Feud
On June - 4 - 2015
There is no doubt that Kevin Owens has kicked in the front door when it comes to making a statement on the main roster.
While many perceived his initial appearance as just more hype for the upcoming NXT TakeOver: Unstoppable event, it ended up being much more. In fact, it lead to a match with John Cena at Elimination Chamber.
While the match had only two weeks to build, that is all it needed. The intensity, ebbs and flows, and overall caliber of the match instantly cemented its status as a Match of the Year candidate.
And the biggest shock? John Cena lost. Cleanly.
Owens' momentum ...
Jesse Sorensen Talks Feelings Toward Zema Ion, TNA Release, WWE Aspirations
On May - 15 - 2015
On the recent episode of the Pancakes and Powerslams Show, I had the pleasure to have Paragon Pro Wrestling heavyweight champion and former TNA X Division star Jesse Sorensen as a guest host, and he had much to say about PPW, the unforgettable accident during the match with Zema Ion that left him paralyzed and his aspirations to be in the WWE.
Here are some highlights:
Chris Featherstone: Were there legitimate feelings toward Zema [Ion]?
Jesse Sorensen: It was up and down. The thing that fired me up and wanted to wrestle again was TNA used my story of breaking my neck to get ...
For the past couple of months, the Authority has been nothing but Seth Rollins and Kane portraying the little brother playing big brother's video games without his permission. It did not take long for these weekly quarrels to get annoying and difficult to witness.
Although Rollins has a future ahead of him, Kane is without a major direction, and the "Director of Operations" title is simply the same thing as saying, "Glen, we do not have much for you, but we'll place you here for now." Unfortunately, since he has removed the mask, his interest has diminished by the second.
Concerning Rollins, ...
Roman Reigns in the Current WWE Championship Picture Is a Bad Idea
On April - 28 - 2015
For the latter part of 2014, Roman Reigns was being groomed as the next poster boy for the WWE. When the fans caught on that he was being manufactured to be the next top guy, his support quickly diminished, and his jeer volume began to increase. His match with Randy Orton at SummerSlam grossly showed his greenness on the big stage, and critics were quickly chomping at the bits to expose him.
Then, the Royal Rumble happened.
His victory was one of the most predictable Royal Rumble wins in recent history, and even The Rock could not save the Philadelphia crowd from ...
Live Notes, Photos, and Video of NXT at the Arnold Classic
On March - 6 - 2015
For the first time, the NXT brand broke down the walls of Full Sail University, taking the talent to Columbus, Ohio, as a feature at the annual Arnold Classic. The crowd was rowdy, and Triple H started the evening by introducing NXT to Columbus. He even made a gesture of touching his arm as a sign of having goosebumps, due to the reaction of the crowd at the LC Pavilion.
The night started off with Hideo Itami and Finn Balor defeating the Vaudevillians. The match was very solid, with both teams receiving a good reaction. There is no question that Finn ...
The Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal Needs Hulk Hogan Involvement
On March - 3 - 2015
It appears quite clear at this point: The Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal will be the hub for lower-card WWE superstars who are happy to get a part of the WrestleMania cut.
However, from a fan's perspective, this match does absolutely nothing to attract interest, nor does it have a desirable payoff that elevates the match or the wrestlers in it.
As of now, the match has little to no purpose. Whomever wins will most likely not be pushed, and the trophy will be as valuable as last year's. There is no stipulation to add to the intrigue of the match, ...
JTG Says Vince Is ‘Out of Touch,’ Claims Gimmick Was Stolen from Him
On February - 16 - 2015
In 2006, a 21-year-old Jayson Paul began his childhood dream of becoming a professional wrestler. Although he admitted to not watching sports as a kid, he was an avid wrestling fan due to having a mother who was passionate about the sport.
His hard work and dedication to his dream led to an opportunity to become a WWE wrestler by way of the developmental territory at the time, Ohio Valley Wrestling. Soon after, he was called up to the main roster, along with his partner Shad Gaspard, and Cryme Tyme was born.
I recently had the pleasure of interviewing JTG, as he ...
What Happened After Raw: Jamie Noble Kisses Daniel Bryan’s Feet
On February - 10 - 2015
This week's WWE Raw episode was filled with cliffhangers to set up for an exciting Fastlane pay-per-view event. We saw Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan on separate pages from the very beginning of the show but still forced to overcome the odds of competing against Big Show and Kane—and then the same two at the end of the show along with Seth Rollins and J&J Security.
While many believed Reigns was doomed to fail in the hefty position he was given as heir apparent to the spot as the next top guy, his development and rapid growth from feuding with a ...
Roman Reigns Is Receiving Unfair Treatment from Flighty Fans
On January - 27 - 2015
Last year: "Yeah! Roman Reigns is the man! He should have won the Royal Rumble! I hate how the WWE buries new talent! I'm not watching anymore!"
This year: "Boo! Roman Reigns sucks! He can't wrestle and has no mic work! I'm not watching anymore! #CancelWWENetwork!"
The funny thing is, Reigns has gotten better in the ring and is improving his mic work. However, as most smark fans express, it is not good enough. It is not fast enough. Character development is not an option. They want something now.
Interestingly enough, the past 30 years have shown us legends who had even faster ...
