Review of the WWE Year so Far (January 2012 to June 2012)

Posted by George Cushnie On July - 3 - 2012
We're now into the seventh month of 2012, so I thought I'd give a recap of the year so far in WWE.I'll try to include the things that were critical to ongoing storylines as well as talking about the most impressive things I saw from WWE.I won't mention every single thing that happened on every single show because not everything that happened on every show was relevant. It's going to cover January through to June and will include some of the things that happened in each month, as well as whether I thought the month was a pass or a fail ...

WWE News: 5 Stars of the Week

Posted by George Cushnie On June - 30 - 2012
It's time for the third edition of ''Stars of the Week,'' where I choose the five things (or people) that I was happiest with in the world of WWE this week (ending June 30th, 2012).As with every list or article that I write, I've made these choices because they were the five things (or people) that impressed me most this week. Before I get into this week's stars, I want to make it clear that the choices I've made are deliberate and I haven't left anyone or anything out. There's a reason why I've made these five choices. It's because they're what ...
Yesterday, I wrote a prediction column about the Raw Money in the Bank (MiTB) match. Today, it's time to review the Smackdown MiTB match. As I said yesterday, this list is going to be of the six men who I feel should be in the match, not the men who will be in it.Feel free to leave your suggestions in the comments section below. Let's get to it.Begin Slideshow

WWE: Predicting the 6 Superstars in the Raw Money in the Bank Match

Posted by George Cushnie On June - 22 - 2012
On July 15th, WWE brings their annual "Money in the Bank" match to us live on pay-per-view.As I'm writing this, WWE hasn't announced whether or not they're having one or two Money in the Bank (MiTB) matches this year, so I'm going to assume that they're having two.Earlier today, NoDQ.com reported that the Big Show is likely to be confirmed as the first participant in the MiTB match for the WWE Title, so I won't be including him in this list. This list is going to be of the six men who I feel should be in the Raw MiTB match, ...

WWE: 5 Potential Replacements for John Laurinaitis

Posted by George Cushnie On June - 16 - 2012
After No Way Out is over this Sunday, it looks like John Laurinaitis will be unemployed. One of the stipulations for the John Cena vs. Big Show cage match is that if Big Show loses, Big Johnny gets fired. The other stipulation is that if Cena loses, he's fired. With the best will in the world, I genuinely can't see Cena being fired so it looks like Laurinaitis is going to be the fall guy!In the name of People Power, and in no particular order, I'm going to look at five potential replacements for Big Johnny if he's fired tomorrow night. As always, ...

WWE: Predicting the Next 5 Marquee Hall of Famers

Posted by George Cushnie On June - 12 - 2012
The night before every WrestleMania, WWE inducts a select few legends into their Hall of Fame. It's not for me to question the legitimacy of the Hall of Fame, especially when you consider names like Pete Rose and Drew Carey are in it, but people like Owen Hart and Davey Boy Smith aren't.It seems to be that the people who WWE are on good terms with get inducted and those who aren't don't.Before I go through the five men who I think will be inducted as the marquee, or headline, names over the next few years, the choices I'm going to ...

WWE: Former Stars Who Should Appear on 1,000th Raw

Posted by George Cushnie On June - 9 - 2012
On July 23, WWE will broadcast the 1,000th episode of Monday Night Raw.There have been so many men and women that have contributed to the success of Raw and whenever there's a "special episode" of Raw, WWE brings out the same old faces to pop a reaction from the crowd. You know the ones I mean, like Hacksaw Jim Duggan, Sgt. Slaughter, Dusty Rhodes, Mae Young and so on.For the 1,000th episode, I'd like to see them go down a different road.In my opinion, without the stars of the Attitude Era and beyond, there wouldn't be a WWE today. In no particular ...

TNA Wrestling: Slammiversary X Preview

Posted by George Cushnie On June - 9 - 2012
It’s that time of month where I preview TNA’s latest PPV offering, which just happens to be its 10th Slammiversary event.TNA's last PPV was an excellent show, so it's got a lot to live up to Sunday night. But judging by the quality of its latest TV shows, that shouldn’t be a problem.Impact has been consistently better than Raw or SmackDown for the last several weeks. In case you haven’t heard, current WWE Intercontinental Champion and former TNA superstar Christian will be appearing live at the PPV Sunday night from Texas. His appearance is part of the deal between TNA and ...

TNA Wrestling Hall of Fame: 3 Men Who Could Be Sunday’s Inductee

Posted by George Cushnie On June - 8 - 2012
On the first live Impact last week, TNA president Dixie Carter announced that TNA would present the first induction into their brand new Hall of Fame at this Sunday's PPV Slammiversary. In my opinion, I don't think that introducing a Hall of Fame should be their top priority, but I can understand why they feel the need to do it.The problem is that most of the potential inductees are still active wrestlers, arguably in the prime of their careers, so it means that there are only two or three viable options at this point.Let's take a look at the three men ...

WWE: Most Effective Babyfaces on the Current Roster

Posted by George Cushnie On June - 5 - 2012
Everyone loves to see the battle between good and evil, whether it's in a movie or in wrestling. The role of the hero in wrestling, or the babyface, is critical. The fans have to feel something for them. Whether it's through their in-ring talent or their ability to cut a good promo, the babyface has to connect with the crowd.Great examples of former wrestlers who excelled in that role are Shawn Michaels, Hulk Hogan, Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock. I'm not saying that there's anyone on the current roster who's at that level, because there isn't.The wrestling business is ...
