Inside The Mind With Dr Hayley: Ric Flair

Posted by Hayley Graham On August - 24 - 2009
The whole office had been slow this week! It seemed like it was going to be an ordinary time for once! Marina kept getting phone calls from Jericho's obscenely expensive lawyer; something about a harassment complaint. She kept telling him he had the wrong office, saying he needed a Mr. Angle; I forget to be honest. I had this man turn up at the door, something about representing a potential client. This peaked my interest, along with the promise of a large pay check, so I told them to send him in at the end of the week. Well, now, ...

The Revolution of Wrestling: The History of SummerSlam

Posted by Hayley Graham On August - 20 - 2009
In 1988, WWF needed help. Vincent Kennedy McMahon was facing his first major competition in the form of the Jim Crocket Promotions (also known as WCW.) Viewers were disappearing, money was being lost and fans were falling out of love with the art of wrestling. Something needed to be done. That something was SummerSlam. In August of that year, the first ever SummerSlam was broadcast from Madison Square Gardens. As they say, the rest is history. From titles to ladders, tag teams to controversy, SummerSlam has played host to it all, giving us some of wrestling's most memorable moments over it's 22 year history. In this slideshow, we ...

ROH Rewind: Debuts, Tag Teams and a Whole Lot of Hurt

Posted by Hayley Graham On August - 18 - 2009
Welcome to the first edition of the Ring of Honor Rewind! This new series will focus on the weekly HDNet shows, recapping the matches, offering my opinions on what happened and giving each shows an overall grade. There will also be a weekly ranking of the matches in order of quality, followed with a ongoing list of the top five wrestlers and tag teams! A lot to do, but ROH is worth it!   The show opens with a video package of the spectacular brawl that followed last week's main event of El Generico vs Davey Richards, followed by the introduction to ...

Spotlighting the Indies: James “Spud” Curtin

Posted by Hayley Graham On August - 17 - 2009
If you thought that Spuds were just potatoes, you didn't take this one into account! James Curtin, more commonly known to the wrestling world as Spud, has spent most of his career being compared to TNA's Amazing Red. There's a good reason for it. At 5'3", Spud is the smallest mainstream wrestler currently performing in Britain, but don't let his size fool you. He is the definition of a live wire. High-flying, death-defying, and electric, Spud is always dropping jaws wherever he goes. Curtin began his training at the tender age of 16, under the tutelage of K-Stars Wrestling trainers Jack Storm ...

Breaking News: Kurt Angle Arrested

Posted by Hayley Graham On August - 15 - 2009
According to media outlets, Kurt Angle was arrested for multiple charges this morning which could jeopardise his chances of appearing at Hard Justice. According to sources, police received a call this morning from who is presumed to be Rhaka Khan, stating that Kurt Angle was allegedly stalking her. This would be an infraction of the protection order that Khan took out against Angle a few weeks ago after their relationship failed. Police found Angle loitering around by the roadside, where police searched him and his car, apparently finding two vials of the illegal drug HGH (Human Growth Hormone). As well as this, it turned ...

Inside The Mind With Dr Hayley: Chris Jericho

Posted by Hayley Graham On August - 14 - 2009
Finally, peace and quiet at the clinic! It took a while, but we actually succeeded in getting rid of Stan! It was Marina's idea as a matter of fact. She was able to convince him that we were moving him to San Antonio unless he stopped trying to sneak in. Of course, with him being very slightly scared of Shawn Michaels, it got rid of him pretty quick. Since then, it's been reasonably smooth sailing. Marina was gradually going around the clinic, taking down every photo that wasn't of Randy Orton and swapping them. She didn't take down the Edge one however, ...

Inside The Mind With Dr Hayley: Cryme Tyme

Posted by Hayley Graham On August - 10 - 2009
Another day, another nutcase in the office. Shame it isn't a wrestler this time. Stan has been going absolutely mental since I said I was going to get a temporary replacement for him. He's been running around, chucking paper on the floor, shouting about how he was never leaving. Well, he is, if only for the time being. I told him this, and he flipped out. I literally had to push him out the door. He still hasn't left. He's been peering through the window, watching the goings on. It's starting to get creepy. Fortunately, my worries were interrupted by the ...

Spotlighting the Indies: “The Phoenix” Jody Fleisch

Posted by Hayley Graham On August - 9 - 2009
Preface: I just want to thank Matthew, James, and Scott for setting up this amazing series and allowing me to take part in it! In my spotlights, I will be focusing on the best of the British Indy wrestling circuit, starting off with my personal favourite!   If you said high-fliers, who would you think about? Would you think of the Lucha Libre stylings of Rey Mysterio? What about the daredevil antics of people like Jeff Hardy and Evan Bourne? There is one man who could blow all of these athletes out of the water with his incredible, awe-inspiring and downright death-defying moves. His name ...

The Spice Of Life: A Look Into Diversity Within The World Of Wrestling

Posted by Hayley Graham On August - 7 - 2009
"Variety is the very spice of life, that gives it all its flavour" - William Cowper   That particular quote was uttered by an English poet over 200 years ago, but it still holds the same meaning now as it did then. Variety comes in many different shapes and forms, whether it be what people look like, or how they work. It all leads to the same thing, differences between human beings that attributes them to their own style. Nowhere else is this more prominent than within a wrestling ring. Every wrestler is of a different variety, cut from different edges of the cloth if you ...

Inside The Mind With Dr Hayley: Edge

Posted by Hayley Graham On August - 4 - 2009
It's surprising what happens in one week away from the office. It was all relaxed before I left, but now, it is absolute chaos! Phones ringing, pagers bleeping, my computer crashing... I went to find Stan, but all that could be heard of him was his voice in the cupboard shouting that if Cena didn't stop, he was going to riot. Backing off from this situation, I went to my list of clients to see who was going to need my help next. It was then that I heard my mobile phone going off... Dr Hayley: Hello. Pro Wrestling Psychiatric Clinic. ...
