WWE Extreme Rules SPOILER: Batista-Cena…Is Going to Suck

Posted by Herija Green On April - 23 - 2010
Yep, I said it. Despite a highly entertaining WrestleMania matchup between these two, their rematch this Sunday has clunker written all over it. Why do I say this? Is it because Batista has one foot out of the WWE door, which removes any suspense as to who’s going to win? No. Is it because the big-event buzz that surrounds Mania, which really helped elevate their previous match, will be absent? Nope. The answer is simple. "Last Man Standing" matches in the current WWE are the most logic-defying, plodding and utterly uninteresting gimmick matches in the industry. Sure, there will be pockets of excitement, and ...

WWE’s Formula For Elevating Main Event Talent is Broken

“Doing the same thing, the same way, and expecting a different result is insanity.”   — Albert Einstein That quote does a pretty good job of summing up my current assessment of the WWE’s latest “effort” to elevate another young wrestler, in this case Jack Swagger, into a Main Event picture that has been almost completely stagnant for years. We’re going full-service here, breaking down every active member of the WWE roster —and even some who aren’t—into levels. I already laid out a scenario I really liked in my previous column, but I have to consider that a long shot—so we’re going more conventional here. Now, without further ado, let’s speculate wildly! Level One: No Chance in Hell Carlito, Chavo ...

Why WWE Would Be Crazy to Let Shawn Michaels End “The Streak”

Let me preface everything I'm about to write by stating that I think this is the best build to a WrestleMania in years. There are three matches I'm legitimately excited about (Undertaker/Michaels, Edge/Jericho, Punk/Misterio), and five others I think should at least be fun (Hart/McMahon, Batista/Cena, MITB Ladder Match, HHH/Sheamus, Tag Title Match). That leaves just one stinker, which is a damn good ratio for WWE's biggest show of the year. However, in terms of long-term booking and the future of the company, I think WWE has made a mistake in having a rematch between Shawn Michaels and The ...
