John Cena is back, and the 15-time world champion is intent on making another championship run. On the last episode of SmackDown Live in 2016, Cena announced his intention to challenge the WWE champion at the Royal Rumble—there was a Triple Threat match for the title that night, so he didn't know which Superstar he would be facing. So while Cena may be able to capture title No. 16 in San Antonio on Jan. 29, the real focus is on Cena's opponent at WrestleMania 33. How will WWE set up what is sure to be one of its marquee matches at The Show of ...

WWE Royal Rumble 2017 will give fans their first glimpse into the company's plans for WrestleMania 33, the premier event in the industry.  The namesake Battle Royal is always full of excitement and surprises—from the unannounced entrants to the huge spots that make the match one of the most unexpected and entertaining programs on the company's calendar.  The 2017 edition should be no exception. Brock Lesnar and Goldberg are already announced participants following their Survivor Series battle, giving the event some high-octane star power. Not to mention that, with the brand split, Raw and SmackDown will be battling for which brand gets ...

WWE Roadblock 2016: B/R Expert Match Predictions and Analysis

Posted by James Moffat On December - 16 - 2016
WWE Roadblock: End of the Line is upon us, ushering out the year with more of a whimper than a bang. Since the brand split in July, WWE has churned out multiple pay-per-views on a two-week schedule in order to accommodate both Raw and SmackDown Live. While this has given additional opportunities to Superstars further down the card, it has also led to repetitive booking.  Nowhere is this more apparent than Sunday's pay-per-view. From the top of the card down, there are few fresh ideas in either the matches or the storylines.  Roman Reigns will once again get a chance at one of ...

WWE Roadblock 2016: Predicting Match Card, Most Likely Swerves at PPV

Posted by James Moffat On December - 7 - 2016
Roadblock: End of the Line closes out WWE's pay-per-view calendar for the year, but its matches are sure to have repercussions as the company heads into 2017.  So far, three matches have been announced, with two of Raw's major titles—the Universal Championship and the Raw Women's Championship—at stake. The rest of the card is to be determined, but plenty of storylines have evolved over the last few weeks, allowing us to make educated guesses as to who will round out the Roadblock event.  Here's a look at the announced matches for Roadblock: End of the Line, as well as those bouts likely ...
The SmackDown LIVE pay-per-view year ends on Sunday with WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs 2016, but the event is sure to set the stage for what will happen on the Road to WrestleMania 33 in 2017.  Following Survivor Series, where SmackDown came up short in a number of matches against its brand foe, Raw, tension among Superstars is running high. Feuds have been established throughout each division, and it's going to be interesting to see whether Creative extends those feuds or lets them come to natural conclusions.  As of Friday morning, here is the match card for WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs ...
WWE Survivor Series 2016 is fantasy warfare come to life.  This year's edition of the Thanksgiving season tradition pits the company's two premier brands—Raw and SmackDown—against one another for bragging rights. Three traditional Survivor Series matches, featuring many of the top names in the company, highlight the card, which is set to be headlined by a rematch between Brock Lesnar and Goldberg. As Bleacher Report's Ryan Dilbert recently wrote, Survivor Series 2016, on paper, ranks as one of the company's best events in years: "An electric energy is surrounding Sunday's PPV, thanks to big matches and brand warfare. And suddenly, a long-neglected event feels ...

WWE Survivor Series 2016: Updated Match Card, Stars to Watch at PPV

Posted by James Moffat On November - 15 - 2016
With WWE Survivor Series 2016 less than a week away, things are starting to heat up between the red and blue brands.  Dubbed "Fantasy Warfare Becomes Reality," the latest edition of Survivor Series pits WWE's two brands—Raw and SmackDown Live—against one another for ultimate supremacy.  On Monday night, fans got a taste of the action, as the men's teams from Raw and SmackDown tangled to end WWE's flagship program.  It should be a lock that the crossovers continue through Tuesday's episode of SmackDown, the show's 900th episode. As of Tuesday morning, the card for Survivor Series reads as follows: Brock Lesnar vs. Goldberg Traditional Survivor Series men’s ...

WWE Hell in a Cell 2016: B/R Expert Match Predictions and Analysis

Posted by James Moffat On October - 28 - 2016
WWE Hell in a Cell 2016, on paper, could be the most exciting pay-per-view of the year. It could also be the most historic. Not only are there three matches inside Hell in a Cell on Sunday, but Raw women's champion Sasha Banks and Charlotte are set to become the first women to do battle inside the structure. In addition, the three HIAC matches are being billed as a triple main event, and speculation has ramped up that the women's championship match will be the final match of the evening.  If that were to happen, Banks and Charlotte would become the first ...
Brock Lesnar and Goldberg are on a collision course in WWE once again, the first time the goliaths will do battle in the squared circle since their bout at WrestleMania XX more than 12 years ago.  The speculation is that these two former heavyweight champions will face off at WWE Survivor Series 2016 next month in Toronto. WWE is heavily promoting both Goldberg and Lesnar in its WWE 2K17 video game release, and Goldberg, Lesnar and Paul Heyman have made numerous television appearances to push their escalating feud.  That is an utter mistake. A matchup of this magnitude deserves the biggest stage the company can offer, ...
