TNA’s Dixie Carter: A Closer Look

Posted by Jesse Mitchell On September - 1 - 2009
Well, exclusive to me and to Bleacher Report. Hold on, I'll explain. The Baltimore Sun's Kevin Eck scored the most coveted interview in Sports Entertainment with Miss Dixie Carter the day after her first TV appearance on Impact. He has agreed to allow me to highlight parts of the interview for an article here, exclusive to Bleacher's own. Kevin writes an awesome wrestling blog, in addition to his job as a full-time journalist. He actually gets paid to do this, and loves it as much as anyone. I will give you a link to his stuff at the end. So what is Dixie's role ...
First things first, this article is my opinion. I am not using my article as a bully pulpit, but I feel betrayed and am d**n mad about it. How many of you remember the shock of Chris Benoit? Me too. How many of you struggled with telling your kids what happened to one of their heroes? Me too. How many of you remember the agony of grief Rey Mysterio showed on the Monday Night Raw before we knew all of the details? Me too. So I get up the other morning and power up the old computer and am pecking around waiting for the ...

Breaking News: More Info on Rey Mysterio Drug Suspension

Posted by Jesse Mitchell On August - 30 - 2009
After some more information from an "inside the business" friend, I did some really intense research and want to add what I found to the two stories already posted about Rey Mysterio's suspension. For a recap, Rey Mysterio was found in violation of World Wrestling Entertainment's Wellness policy. He was therefore suspended for 30 days, beginning on Sept. 2. On doing some research, I discovered that this is not Rey's first brush with the law concerning prescription drugs. We all remember too well the tragedy of Chris Benoit. What we do not know, or at least I did not, was that in the ...

Jeff Hardy and John Morrison Continue Heating Up Friday Nights

Posted by Jesse Mitchell On August - 16 - 2009
A day late on the Smackdown re-cap, but since no one else has beaten me to the punch, I will go ahead and post what I saw. This week's Smackdown had to answer quite a few questions to keep rolling as the best weekly wrestling show on television. They were: 1. What will Matt Hardy's role be, and is he healed enough to compete? 2. Would John Morrison continue to beat CM Punk every week? 3. Where will the Kane/Khali angle go and will this lift Khali's sagging stature or lower Kane's? 4. Can Smackdown continue the role it has been on as ...

A Shockingly Good Monday Night Raw…Finally!

Posted by Jesse Mitchell On August - 11 - 2009
I have almost come to dread watching Monday Night Raw lately, so imagine my surprise when they put together a good, almost great, show from Calgary tonight. They even had more matches (seven in total), than Smackdown and Superstars put together! The crowd was great and the superstars themselves were at the top of their games. Orton continues to bring heat, and John Cena gave one of the most passionate promos I have seen from him in a long, long time. That is after hearing news that made me rethink my whole opinion of both, which I will go into later. It was odd to ...

Another Win For WWE’s Friday Night Smackdown

Posted by Jesse Mitchell On August - 8 - 2009
In a Friday Night Smackdown that was full of surprises and some interesting twists and turns, WWE has proven again that they can put together a winning show with the talent they have. I Wished their creative team would pay a visit to Monday Night Raw, but I digress and should get on with the review of last night's show. CM Punk continues to gather heat, and for the ROH fans, you know he is a much better heel than face, hands down. It is somewhat controversial having the "bad guy" be the one who doesn't drink, do drugs, or any other "sin" ...

WWE Superstars Scores (Aug. 7)

Posted by Jesse Mitchell On August - 7 - 2009
While I missed this week's TNA show, I was able to catch Thursdays WWE Superstars broadcast thanks to the old trusty DVR. I must say right off the top that this was a solid show and I didn't have to skip any matches or skits. I originally thought that the Superstars concept was: 1. Going to be a time-filler like the old Saturday and Sunday morning one hour shows, and that 2. It was going to put too much strain on the stars and commentators due to the added travel on their already jam-packed calendars. An example would be JR and Todd ...

Why TNA Won’t Surpass WWE

Posted by Jesse Mitchell On August - 6 - 2009
I think we can all agree that we are not real happy with the product that WWE delivers on a weekly basis. For a couple of weeks it seemed that Friday Night Smackdown was run by a different company, but now it seems like it too is going down the same road as Raw and Superstars...like a scary rerun of the 1980's. We can pass blame to who we want whether it is the passing of the buck to the kids, Linda sitting on the Board of Education, but I can pinpoint exactly the reason why they have fell so ...
