WWE SummerSlam: The Miz vs. Rey Mysterio, a Potential Show-Stealer

Posted by Luis Herrera On August - 13 - 2011
We are just one day apart from the WWE SummerSlam 2011 and the match that could steal the show hasn’t been officially announced yet.The Miz vs. Rey Mysterio. Mr. I’m Awesome vs. The Master of the 619. However, this match is almost a lock to take place at the Staples Center; The Miz already hinted that in an interview today and it seems very unlikely that the WWE would keep two of their biggest stars out of this pay-per-view, especially considering the Latin audience in Los Angeles. Of course, a Miz-Mysterio bout won’t have the repercussions of John Cena vs. ...
After the WrestleMania hangover, the WWE draft works as a kick-off to a new “season” in the company, allowing the WWE Universe to move on from old feuds and create new combinations for potential storylines. The past seven editions of the draft have given plenty of surprises down the years. We saw Triple H drafted to Smackdown in 2004, only to return to Raw a couple of weeks later. The WWE Championship and the World Heavyweight Championship switched brands when John Cena and Batista were exchanged in 2005. In 2009, seven of nine belts moved from one brand to the other. Last year, there ...

WWE Wrestlemania 28: It’s Official, The Rock vs John Cena!

Posted by Luis Herrera On April - 4 - 2011
We will have to wait a year, but it will be worth the time. One night after The Rock cost him the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 27, John Cena called out the People's Champion in the last segment of Monday Night Raw. Once Rocky joined him in the ring, Cena told him that the time for talking was over, challenging to settle their differences immediately. The Rock countered with a bigger challenge: a match at the Grandest Stage of All, the main event of WrestleMania 28 at Miami. John Cena accepted the challenge, shaking hand with The Rock to make ...
Finally, Edge managed to win a World Heavyweight Championship match at WrestleMania. After three defeats in a row at the The Grandest Stage of All and against almost all predictions, the Rated-R Superstar retained his title by pinning Alberto del Rio. What did we learn from this match? Let’s see.   1. The World Heavyweight Championship is the New Intercontinental Championship This was the third PPV in a row in which the World Heavyweight Championship was defended at the start. The WHC was also the first on the Royal Rumble and second in the Elimination Chamber card. Last year, that was usually the Intercontinental Championship’s spot.   2. SmackDown ...
Once all was said and done, The Rock was the last man standing at the Georgia Dome. For the first time in three years, John Cena didn’t leave WrestleMania with a World Championship belt on his hands. After a good match, with a few two-counts and overall a nice performance (not spectacular) from both wrestlers, The Miz had retained the WWE Championship after both he and Cena had been counted-out by the referee. WrestleMania couldn’t end in a draw, of course, so The Rock returned to the ring to get the match restarted. Once the actions resumed, John Cena was getting the upper-hand on ...
The Undertaker and Triple H still have it. It had been a so-so WrestleMania so far, with a couple of good matches but a bittersweet taste overall. I had already read a couple “Worst WrestleMania ever!” posts in the web. I don’t think I’ll see more. Taker and HHH had an epic battle, full of big spots, insane bumps and dramatic moments. Only one minute into the match, the Deadman was ready to destroy the Spanish announcer table, but instead the King of Kings slammed him into the Cole Mine. Then they threatened taking down the English table with ...
The fourth match of the card was probably the best so far, and the one that finally got the crowd fully excited. Since the start CM Punk targeted Randy Orton’s injured knee, dominating most of the match and getting several two-counts. However, Orton managed to bounce back and at some point he was ready to punt kick Punk in the skull, but in the middle of his attempt, he fell to the ring, selling his knee injury. Overconfident as he saw Orton’s struggles, Punk almost got RKO’ed once, but managed to scape. However, Orton did connect a second RKO attempt ...
Just to make sure we all know that Raw is the A-show in the company, the WWE decided that the three SmackDown matches of the night were the first three in the televised card. For the third PPV in a row, the World Heavyweight Championship was used as the broadcast opener, a “privilege” once reserved for mid-card titles. With Christian in his corner, Edge defeated Alberto del Rio to retain the title in a match that lasted around 13 minutes. Del Rio’s associates Brodus Clay and Ricardo Rodríguez interfered a couple of times, but that wasn’t enough to give him ...
WrestleMania 27 has begun and, sadly, the WWE decided that the US Championship was only worthy of a dark match.Mexican newspaper Reforma reported in its Twitter account that Sheamus and Daniel Bryan started the event in a lumberjack match with 22 wrestlers around the ring. The battle ended in a no-contest and then was followed by a battle royal involving all the lumberjacks and even Sheamus and Bryan. In the battle royal, Sheamus eliminated Bryan, but he was then eliminated by The Great Khali. In the end, The Great Khali won the battle royal. Some of the participants in this match were Mark ...

WWE Wrestlemania 27: Analyzing the Build-Up of Each Match

Posted by Luis Herrera On April - 3 - 2011
We are only hours apart from WrestleMania 27. After two months of building up, we’ll finally see the end of several feuds, but a few will probably keep going. Despite all the big names that left the company recently, the WWE managed to have a good card for this night. We have nine matches scheduled, some of them very attractive. It seems a perfect time to analyze the build-up of the event and how could every match turn out.Begin Slideshow
