TNA Hatred: A Logical Response to Nonsensical Decisions

Posted by Mr. Ashley Morris On March - 22 - 2011
Pro wrestling fans who openly share their dislike for TNA’s product are often labeled as TNA Haters, a phrase that immediately brands them as knuckle-dragging, IWC inbred hillbillies that blindly support Vince McMahon and his monstrous “sports entertainment” corporation. These TNA Haters are regularly demeaned for their stance, their opinions disregarded as fluff and made invalid by default for their supposed support of the WWE.  These fans are blasted for always harshly criticizing TNA without doing the same for the WWE.  They’re made pro wrestling pariahs, cast out from the larger community simply because they’re vocal about not supporting TNA. What I ...
TNA has released an official statement regarding their Victory Road pay per view that took place on Sunday, March 13.  This announcement, which some view as an “apology,” essentially acknowledges that the event that took place Sunday was not up to par with what the company attempts to deliver to its fans.  As a result of this, the company will offer fans that purchased the event six months of free access to 300 hours of footage from the TNAOnDemand library. Please excuse the sarcasm, but that’s one hell of a way to repay your loyal fans.  If watching one minute and 28 seconds ...

WWE’S Elimination Chamber Will Fail to Meet Expectations

Posted by Mr. Ashley Morris On February - 18 - 2011
Just the other day I saw a video package for the Elimination Chamber that was great.  I thought to myself, “Imagine if the action inside of the ring told the same exact story, each man leaving the EC playing of the effects of the chamber, limping to the ring, sporting Diamond Dallas Page-like bandages wrapped around their midsections, black eyes and bandaged foreheads and the like.” Unfortunately, the current WWE PG climate won't allow for that to happen.  It seems that the Elimination Chamber is only viewed as an object, a prop that the superstars will utilize sparingly in their quest to ...

TNA: Eric Bischoff’s Crusade Against Wade Keller Confirms Carny Connections

I rarely use the terms “mark” or “smark” to describe a pro wrestling fan that has an unnatural loyalty towards a particular wrestling promotion.  The reason behind this is because ninety percent of the time, these terms are used incorrectly by fans.According to Wikipedia, a mark is a fan who believes that the characters and events of some or all of professional wrestling are real.  A mark can also be a fan that idolizes a particular wrestler, promotion, or style of wrestling to a point some might consider excessive. The term was originally derived from traveling carnival midway barkers who would ...

I’m Just Sayin’: A Dissenting View on the Cancellation of TNA ReAction

Posted by Mr. Ashley Morris On December - 31 - 2010
It wasn't until December 30th, 2010 that a Bleacher Report article appeared concerning the "cancellation" of TNA's critically acclaimed show, ReAction.  For the most part, this news remained buried under numerous articles and pretty much stayed off of our collective pro wrestling radar. What could be said about the "cancellation?"  We did not cry, nor did we mourn the loss of TNA's hour long docu-drama series that was designed to further story lines from the company's flagship show Impact. Stuff happens, right? Wrong; for a company that has very little exposure as is, the "cancellation" of ReAction is a HUGE loss for TNA, especially ...

My Two Cents: TNA "Thinks" About Taking Impact On the Road

Posted by Mr. Ashley Morris On December - 28 - 2010
We all should thank the pro wrestling gods for this news! It has been reported that there are talks of TNA taking its flagship show, Impact, on the road for future tapings. These reports should be regarded as rumors until we hear or see an official announcement from the company itself. Click here and here to read more about these reports. However, the speculation is great enough by itself to warrant our shouts of joy and adulation. It has been a long time coming, and Impact is far overdue for Thursday night exposure outside of the Impact Zone located in Orlando, Florida. One could ...

The Push vs. the Job: Why WWE’s Future Endeavors Are Bad For TNA

Posted by Mr. Ashley Morris On October - 20 - 2010
The average pro wrestling fan today has a default setting that imagines all future endeavored WWE employees embarking upon a 90-day journey that will eventually land them in Orlando, Florida. After their arrival in Orlando, these mistreated employees will surely end up in TNA’s offices where the individuals in charge will award them contracts with the company and allow them to properly showcase the talents and skills they possess that were suppressed in the WWE. These thoughts and speculations are troublesome for a number of reasons, most of which rely on faulty assumptions supported by foundations of shoddy workmanship. When a WWE superstar ...

I’m Just Sayin’: A Dissenting View of TNA’s Bash At the Beach 2010

Posted by Mr. Ashley Morris On October - 12 - 2010
The following is a public service announcement paid for by the Friends of the IWC: TNA IS OFFICIALLY WCW V2.0. Bleacher Report has already been flooded with pieces that wax poetically in one way or another about the events that occurred Sunday night during TNA's biggest pay-per-view of the year, Bound to Bash At the Beach for Glory.  Just in case you missed the memo, Jeff Hardy turned heel with the aid of Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff.  With their assistance, Hardy was crowned the new TNA World Heavyweight Champion and was also revealed as a member of the infamous "They."  At the conclusion of the match, ...

My Two Cents: The Viper and the Rise of the Anti-Villain

Posted by Mr. Ashley Morris On October - 5 - 2010
The term “anti-hero” has been used by fans as of late to describe the current WWE Champion, Randy “The Viper” Orton.  The last superstar to earn such a moniker from the fans (and rightfully so) was the raging Texas Redneck Rattlesnake, Stone Cold “Be Good to your Wife” Steve Austin. When applied properly, an anti-hero is an unlikely character who exhibits heroic or “like-able” qualities even though they may not be a “hero.” In regards to pro wrestling, the anti-hero would be a fan favorite grappler—a “face”—that at the very core is a “heel.” Stone Cold rose to anti-hero fame during his epic ...

My Two Cents: RAW’s Recent Ratings and Why The WWE Is Scared S*%#less

Posted by Mr. Ashley Morris On October - 1 - 2010
On September 27th, 2010, the WWE's RAW program scored a 2.7 in the ratings.  This number was the same as the 2.7 rating gained on the live RAW on September 20th, one night removed from the crowning of Randy Orton as the new WWE Champion at the Night of Champions pay per view. Those two numbers were both down from the 3.0 rating from the September 13th episode of RAW, which saw the return of the RAW Roulette and Randy Orton defeat John Cena in a Tables Match as the main event. In short, RAW has dipped from a 3.0 to a 2.7 in ...
