Could WWE Superstars Undertaker and Kane Be Returning to TV?

Posted by Richard Warrell On September - 28 - 2013
Over the last few days, WWE's official Twitter account has released a number of cryptic tweets that seem to relate to Kane and The Undertaker, all using the hashtag #RestinPieces. Of course, “rest in peace” is a well-known catchphrase of The Undertaker, and this seems to be a play on words of that phrase. It is this author’s belief that these tweets relate to an upcoming comic book starring the two iconic wrestlers, and possibly also to a televised reunion for the Brothers of Destruction to promote the release.  Cryptic messages have often been used to herald the return of Kane or ...

Breaking News: Ted DiBiase, Jr. Not Renewing His WWE Contract

Posted by Richard Warrell On August - 26 - 2013
Ted DiBiase, Jr. has released a video on YouTube announcing that he is not renewing his contract with WWE. He posted a link to the video to his official Twitter account earlier today. In the video, DiBiase explains that he is departing WWE, and it would seem pro-wrestling in general, for a number of personal reasons. The primary reason seems to be because DiBiase intends to focus on spending time with his family, something many full-time professional wrestlers struggle to do. The video suggests that DiBiase recognises that being a dedicated father is difficult when wrestling full-time, as it is a job which keeps ...

WrestleMania 29: Is WWE Setting Up a Perfect Extreme Rules Card?

Posted by Richard Warrell On March - 19 - 2013
It is WrestleMania season baby!Around this time of year, everyone gets excited as WWE builds up for the best night of the year, WrestleMania. The promos and matches leading up to it are always brilliant and some of the TV matches this year such as CM Punk and John Cena's singles match on Raw the other night have been of pay-per-view quality themselves.WWE normally manages to keep a relatively high amount of interest in the product from WrestleMania in April until SummerSlam in August before entering a "dry season" that runs until the end of the year. All the same, there ...

The article includes few other details but the fact The Undertaker is back in the ring is news-worthy enough as it is.Shortly afterwards WWE confirmed the return via Tout, posting a video of The Undertaker's ring entrance. A video was also posted to YouTube but immediately deleted by WWE. While an appearance at a house show does not guarantee a wrestler is returning to ...

Brock Lesnar Should Appear on Raw Much More Frequently in Coming Months

Posted by Richard Warrell On September - 18 - 2012
Brock Lesnar's contract with WWE saw the company booking him for a total of 35 appearances over a year-long period starting the night after WrestleMania 28.Cast your mind back to Brock Lesnar's previous appearances to this point (summarized here with the exception of Lesnar's post-SummerSlam Raw appearance where Paul Heyman dubbed him the new "King of Kings") and see that he has 24 appearances left on his contract.I took a quick look at WWE's upcoming schedule. Assuming that, like most part-time stars, Lesnar is considered too big to appear on SmackDown!, Lesnar will exclusively be appearing on PPV (pay-per-view) and Raw. ...

WWE News: Ring Return Date Predictions for Absent Superstars

Posted by Richard Warrell On July - 31 - 2012
Here we are again: looking at the forecast for in-ring returns by WWE's biggest stars. We have seen two major episodes of Raw—the landmark 1000th episode, and the first standard Raw of the new three hour format. How has the landscape of WWE changed in that time?I know it has not been that long since the last update, but with numerous returns expected at Raw 1000, and with my expecting them to save a few for Raw 1001 to keep things interesting, I did anticipate writing another article after such a short span of time. From big stars like Brock Lesnar to mid-carders ...
A short time ago (22 days to be exact), I wrote an article previewing the ring returns of WWE's currently absent Superstars. The aim of the article was to build anticipation for the return of various Superstars, spark interesting discussion, and point out to fans critical of the WWE product that an unusually high number of members of the roster were out of action. This article will look at how those Superstars are getting along on their road back to the WWE.Note the focus in the title on in-ring returns.Begin Slideshow

WWE: Worrisome Comparisons with WCW’s Dying Days

Posted by Richard Warrell On June - 22 - 2012
I was watching some old documentaries about WCW last night, and could not help but notice a number of striking similarities with the current way the WWE's product is created, managed and presented. Now, I do not think WWE is going to go out of business, or be bought by TNA any time soon, but it is still food for thought, and something the company should be aware of.History is there to be learned from, after all.Begin Slideshow
