Trailer for WWE Studios’ ‘Marine 4: Moving Target’ Released

Posted by Sharon Glencross On March - 23 - 2015
The trailer for upcoming WWE Studios' film The Marine 4: Moving Target is out, and it appears to offer more of the same brutal, hard-hitting action that has made the franchise a cornerstone of the company's movie division. The film stands out for a couple of reasons. Mike “The Miz” Mizanin is the first actor to return to the series, a wise move considering he was decent in 2013's The Marine 3: Homefront. He might not be Al Pacino or anything, but by action movie standards, he can deliver quite convincing performances. It also marks the acting debut of WWE Diva Summer ...

John Cena Must Put Over Rusev at Fast Lane

Posted by Sharon Glencross On January - 29 - 2015
John Cena is heading for a showdown against Rusev at the Fast Lane pay-per-view next month—and it is imperative that the newcomer goes over in the match. The last thing WWE needs to do right now is sacrifice another rising star to Cena’s Never-Ending Push of Doom. The Nexus—2010’s top heel group—never recovered from being dismantled by the star in 2010. Considering how much potential that group had, it was heartbreaking. As one fan noted on Twitter: R-Truth and The Miz gained nothing from their (forgettable) feuds with the 12 Rounds actor. Ryback lost to him often in 2013 and was predictably demoted ...

Bubba Ray Dudley Discusses Possible WWE Future

Posted by Sharon Glencross On January - 27 - 2015
In one of the most noteworthy and discussed moments of the pay-per-view, Bubba Ray Dudley entered at No. 3 in WWE's annual Royal Rumble bout, eliminating R-Truth and The Miz before being tossed out of the ring by rising heel Bray Wyatt. According to reports from F4WOnline (via WrestlingInc.com), people in the company are working under the assumption that Dudley's appearance was strictly a one-off. However, the possibility that Dudley could remain with the company past the pay-per-view remains up in the air. In fact, during a post-show interview with the company's official website, the former TNA performer even hinted that he'd very much like ...

WWE Royal Rumble 2015: Stars Who Enhanced Their Legacy

Posted by Sharon Glencross On January - 27 - 2015
Despite its ghastly and deeply unpopular ending, WWE’s Royal Rumble pay-per-view nevertheless allowed several wrestlers on the roster to cement and enhance their legacies. In fact, a few wrestlers came out of out the show looking far better than before. Not poor Roman Reigns, of course. Truthfully, it might be better for fans to just concentrate on the performances of these men rather than dwelling on the jarring and negative aspects of the show. Let’s have a look at the performers who shone on Sunday night.    Brock Lesnar Brock Lesnar’s performance at in the Triple Threat match was absolutely fantastic. His feats of physical ...
Following Brock Lesnar's spectacular performance in the Triple Threat match at the Royal Rumble, it is abundantly clear that Vince McMahon needs the star to stick around through 2015 and beyond. Per recent reports from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (h/t MMAJunkie.com), people in management are working under the assumption that Lesnar will return to the UFC once his contract runs out after WrestleMania. However, letting the performer go back to MMA would be a significant mistake on WWE's part. Lesnar may not be a regular performer on television—he can go weeks and even months at a time without making an appearance—but when he does show ...

Report: WWE’s Reaction to the Royal Rumble Backlash

Posted by Sharon Glencross On January - 26 - 2015
People in WWE could not have ignored the overwhelmingly negative reaction to Roman Reigns' victory at Sunday night's Royal Rumble pay-per-view. It actually managed to be worse than Batista's disastrous and embarrassing win last year—which previously seemed inconceivable. It wasn't just the people in the arena; fans on Twitter were furious about the result, too. Some would suggest one way for WWE to appease its fans following this latest debacle is to find a way to insert much-loved babyface Daniel Bryan into the title bout at WrestleMania 31. Interestingly, as F4WOnline.com (via WrestleZone.com) mentions, Vince McMahon is apparently unwilling to consider adding Bryan to Reigns vs. ...

WWE Royal Rumble 2015: Worst Booking Decisions from the PPV

Posted by Sharon Glencross On January - 26 - 2015
Sunday night's Royal Rumble pay-per-view was a rather controversial show that left many fans deeply unhappy and frustrated with the company and its creative direction. Alas, WWE made several crucial errors when scripting the show, and it appears Vince McMahon and his gaggle of writers are woefully out of touch with what their fanbase wants in 2015.   Daniel Bryan's Early Elimination  After entering at No. 11, fan favorite Daniel Bryan was eliminated absurdly early by Bray Wyatt. This was a terrible decision on the booking team's part. Following the star's enthralling comeback storyline—which was one of WWE's big angles heading into the pay-per-view—this ...

Report: Randy Orton to Return at the Royal Rumble?

Posted by Sharon Glencross On January - 24 - 2015
Randy Orton was last seen on WWE television on November 3, being carted out of the arena by EMTs after sustaining serious storyline injuries at the hands of Seth Rollins and The Authority. In real life, the star was taking time off to film the upcoming WWE Studios flick The Condemned 2: Desert Prey. (Frankly, this film is probably the least necessary and most unwanted movie sequel since Basic Instinct 2. Then again, perhaps fans should just be grateful WWE isn't making The Chaperone 2.) In the months since his dramatic exit, speculation has been running rampant about exactly when the star ...

Report: New Season of Tough Enough to Have an ‘American Idol’ Format?

Posted by Sharon Glencross On January - 23 - 2015
WWE announced last week that popular wrestling reality show Tough Enough will soon return to the USA Network. News has already started leaking out about the company’s plans for the upcoming season—including some interesting format changes. As PWInsider.com noted, via Wrestle Zone, veteran performer Bill DeMott will take on a key role in the show.   Apparently, the company is also planning a bold, new American Idol-style approach to the competition. (Don’t worry, fans won’t see hopefuls get on stage and belt out off-key versions of Celine Dion songs for a panel of judges.) As Wrestle Zone mentions: WWE NXT head trainer Bill DeMott is expected ...

Brock Lesnar Will Cement Babyface Turn in Royal Rumble Main Event

Posted by Sharon Glencross On January - 23 - 2015
If Vince McMahon is smart, he will solidify Brock Lesnar’s face turn at this week’s Royal Rumble pay-per-view and script the star to lose his belt due to interference from his manager and friend Paul Heyman. Let’s examine this situation. Per reports, Lesnar’s time in the company might be coming to an end. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (via MMAJunkie.com), people in management are now working under the assumption that Lesnar will depart the company when his contract runs out in April. So this could be WWE’s last chance to book Lesnar as a babyface—and it's one it should take advantage of. Truthfully, ...
