Shawn Michaels vs Sting at Wrestlemania: Can It Happen? Should It Happen?

Posted by Wrestling Uncovered On January - 11 - 2011
As the pro wrestling world has changed over the last few months, I've watched on the sidelines, ever curious. I watched people retire, and big names leave. I've read articles speculating on subjects ranging from Undertaker's Wrestlemania opponent to possible heel turn to questioning whether or not CM Punk is a good leader for the Nexus, and even a return of Goldberg, one of the few men that attracted me to WCW when the promotion was still going strong. There's been a mix of certainty and uncertainty in both TNA and WWE. Stars have left, and new stars have been signed. The ...

WWE’s NXT Season 3: Are There Possibly Hidden Motives?

Posted by Wrestling Uncovered On September - 3 - 2010
I have quietly sat on the sidelines of Bleacher Report for a while, watching articles coming and going. Every once in a while rearing my head to comment on a situation or article I think is interesting. I have also kept up with my favorite pastime which is watching wrestling. While I felt about commenting on many things such as the debuting of Dos Caras Jr. as Alberto Del Rio, the interesting concept of NXT, or the Nexus storyline, I held my tongue and chose to watch and enjoy allowing others to voice opinions. I shared, silently agreeing, perhaps even commenting if I found ...

Pain and Reflection: Looking Back at the Chris Benoit Double-Murder Suicide

Posted by Wrestling Uncovered On June - 24 - 2010
It happened three years ago today, though none of us learned until at least 24 hours after the fact. I'm certain all of us remember where we were when it happened, as it was easily one of the greatest tragedies of the modern wrestling era. I am speaking, of course, of the Chris Benoit double murder-suicide. A tragedy that many of us were at first reluctant to believe, some even going as far as to refer to it as one of the simple storylines that all pro wrestling fans love. It was thought that Benoit would show up at the next PPV without a scratch on him ...

TNA Just Hasn’t Learned…yet….and WWE Hasn’t Either Part I

Posted by Wrestling Uncovered On January - 7 - 2010
I love TNA, I really do. I want them to succeed; I want them to become recognized. I feel they have a good chance at doing it and I will admit like many I was anxiously waiting to see the beginning of the "new" Monday Night War. I sat down ready to see TNA, hoping to be wowed. Then the show hit, beginning with the ridiculous Steel Asylum match with a terrible ending, and the debut of Jeff Hardy. However, different from most people, as soon as nine came around, I simply turned on another TV to watch RAW. I sat there with ...

Analyzing the Hitman’s Claims: Should Melina Be Spoken of As the Best?

Posted by Wrestling Uncovered On December - 7 - 2009
Melina, the current divas champion...and the best wrestler in the world? What? That can't be true.  If you are anything like me that is the exact reaction you had when you heard that Bret Hart had said he felt Melina was the best wrestler in the world. I mean, sure she is an okay diva and a decent wrestler, but what has she done to warrant being called the best in the world? Or what has she done to earn praise from Bret "the Hitman" Hart, one of the best technical wrestlers to ever step in the ring? These had to be ...

The Power of the Face/Heel Turn

Posted by Wrestling Uncovered On November - 9 - 2009
The turn from Face to Heel, or vice versa, has been an important aspect of wrestling for decades. This turn from either good to evil, or evil to good, can happen gradually throughout a course of many weeks or in a single night. The turn can also come about from a switch to another major promotion. In many cases weather slow or sudden, the turn seems to have a great ability. It can make or destroy the careers of wrestlers for one simple reason, some people are good at being bad guys, some were born to be good guys, and then ...

WWE Survivor Series 2009: The Many Roads The World Title Match Can Take

Posted by Wrestling Uncovered On October - 30 - 2009
Survivor Series 2009...the PPV is approaching and fast. As of right now, the event has only two matches on the card, both of them heavyweight title matches. On the Raw side of things, we have a triple-threat match featuring John Cena, Shawn Michaels, and Triple H. On the Smackdown side, we have a triple-threat match featuring The Undertaker, Big Show, and Chris Jericho. These two matches have something in common besides both being for world titles and both being triple threats. Both contain a tag team. Let us first look at the RAW side... John Cena is the champion going into the event. He has ...

Team Smackdown vs. Team Raw: Terrible Booking or Genius in Disguise?

Posted by Wrestling Uncovered On October - 18 - 2009
Many have looked at the concept of WWE's latest Pay-per-view, Bragging Rights and called it stupid. The idea of a pay-per-view almost solely dedicated to the rivalry between Smackdown and Raw does seem overplayed and rather dull. However, the match on this card that seems to have gotten the most criticism is the 7-on-7 match between Team Smackdown and Team Raw. I will admit when I first heard the idea I was amongst the many criticized it believing the idea to be rather stale. We already had Survivor Series, why have another pay-per-view even remotely similar? Then the qualifying matches for Team Smackdown ...

Drugs in Pro Wrestling: Stop the Hypocrisy

Posted by Wrestling Uncovered On September - 15 - 2009
Hypocrisy. It never ceases amongst wrestling fans. Whether or not some of us refuse to admit it we are all basically hypocrites when it comes to the product which entertains us. We expect nothing but perfection and constantly bicker over who should be getting pushes, why they should, why they haven’t, who doesn’t deserve pushes, etc. Perhaps one of the biggest things that shows our hypocrisy is the way we react when wrestlers are caught using some form of drugs. Our reactions differ. The reaction differs from person to person and his attitudes surrounding drugs. But what many have not looked at is our ...

What TNA Needs Above All Else: A Wellness Policy

Posted by Wrestling Uncovered On September - 3 - 2009
Many people have talked recently about what TNA needs. These talks have included such things as a break out star, breaking up the factions, keeping aged talent out of the main event scene, refocus on the X-Division, etc. Even I have called TNA out on some of these issues but something that grinds my gears about TNA, and something that strangely no one has brought up, is that they have yet to establish a wellness policy. As of right now, TNA has no wellness policy at all, not even one in basic form. I find it difficult to believe that a promotion that is recognized as the second ...
