Do’s and Don’t’s: A Monday Night War Edition

Posted by Chase Clause On January - 6 - 2010
"Monday Night War." That is the term used by some to describe the TNA/WWE ratings battle. Some think that TNA and the WWE had their good and bad moments, while others think it wasn't a war at all. Regardless of opinions, it is obvious that Monday's shows were a definite sign of things to come, no matter the ratings. There are already rumors of TNA moving full-time to Mondays due to the ratings. And in my opinion, competition is good for the business, as it helps every company be better. However, not everything TNA and the WWE do will help them ...

Bret Hart Returns to Get Kicked in the Groin, As Do the Fans

Posted by Sean Jackson On January - 6 - 2010
I, for one, tuned in with great excitement to see Bret Hart return. Like many, this event was 12 years in the making for me.   First, what was with the music? Apparently they tried to jazz up Bret Hart’s theme song. Most people would’ve been perfectly happy with his old music. Still, his entrance and the first 15 minutes of him talking to the fans and forgiving Shawn Michaels were legendary. After that, it went downhill.   I’ll be the first to admit I haven’t followed the storylines. I only started watching wrestling once I found out Bret was coming back. Still, there ...

B/R Wrestling Community Involvement: Buy Or Sell

Posted by Steven Ransiear On January - 6 - 2010
In my short time on this fine website, I've had the pleasure of reading some great articles as well as the opportunity to post my own thoughts with you. However, something seems to be lacking just a bit, and that's the involvement of the whole community on the wrestling side of things here at Bleacher Report. So I've done some thinking and would like to propose a "Buy or Sell" segment to go up every week. I ran this by our community leader and he said to go for it.  The idea is that I get two of our great writers ...
Recently there have been talks of either cancelling ECW altogether or repackaging the brand.  Repackaging seems like a better idea, but a cancellation occurs, what would happen to the ECW Title and whoever holds it at the time? ECW is on the verge of going down due to very low ratings, less than 1.0 on most nights, as well as a lack of fan interest in general. My gripe about this is that ECW is on SYFY, a network that shows only science fiction movies, TV shows, and the occasional original movie; where does wrestling fit in there? If ECW were on FX, ...

Top 10 TNA Superstars

Posted by Nathan Bentley On January - 6 - 2010
After the Monday Night wars I've decided to compile a list of The Top 10 Current TNA Performers; consisting of all the "Pre-Hogan" wrestlers- as I believe you can't be considered without at least a few taping of Impact! Sorry Hardy fans. I should say that I have only been watching wrestling properly for a short time and so I may not be the most informed of individuals to make such a list, but I'll give it a try anyway. The choices I make are my personal favorite wrestlers, but at the same time, I believe them to be the best in ...

Former WWE Superstar Bastion Booger Signs Huge Deal With TNA (Humor)

Posted by Ashley Morris On January - 6 - 2010
In the latest and most shocking development for Total Nonstop Action (TNA) Wrestling, several suspiciously trustworthy ex-cons have reported that Bastion Booger has signed a long-term deal with TNA and will make his Impact! television debut shortly. It is speculated that fans all around the globe will flock to the Impact Zone's next television taping to witness a monumental moment in professional wrestling. Sources close to Vince McMahon, Chairman of the WWE, have said he is not too pleased with TNA's most recent signing. "He was furious!" remarked Elliott Jackson Jr., a janitor whose tenure at Titan Tower is one week.  "I ...

Dead Even: A Dissenting View of Monday Night’s Wrestling

Posted by Ashley Morris On January - 6 - 2010
After spending several weeks seemingly bashing Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, I must humbly bow my head and give credit where credit is due. Both TNA and the WWE put on painfully average shows Monday night.  In my opinion, many of our expectations were not met in what was billed as the reincarnation of the "Monday Night Wars" by folks all across the nation and the world. I contend that we should not celebrate TNA's mediocre attempt at "competing" with the WWE's flagship show, RAW, nor should we pat Vince McMahon on the back for the product he aired on the USA Network. With my head gingerly bowed towards ...

Why This Is a Great Time to Be a Fan of TNA and WWE

Posted by On January - 6 - 2010
Monday night saw the beginning of a new era in TNA, and maybe even professional wrestling as a whole.  Since Monday, every wrestling site, and plenty of sites that normally don't report on wrestling, have been a buzz with chatter about WWE and TNA. Yesterday saw so much traffic on BR the site started running slower for the first time I have seen.  More people are interested in checking out what they once thought was dumb and even more people are coming back to wrestling after having left. TNA had a huge night with their first Monday version of iMPACT .  They were chock ...
TNA literally will not stop bringing in everyone they possibly can. Last night, we saw the debut of many former WWE stars, including Jeff Hardy, Ric Flair, Orlando Jordan, Val Venis, and of course, Hulk Hogan. Hogan mentioned there is not a name they won't go after, as they have gone after everyone from Tyler Black in ROH, to The Rock and Steve Austin. But, they haven't signed either of those three yet. One name that has come out is Joey Mercury. He is currently in Orlando taking a physical, if he passes then he will become yet another member of the ...

Why TNA Signing Jeff Hardy Creates a Big Problem

Posted by Scott Manyard On January - 5 - 2010
The wrestling community has been buzzing with the recent signing of Jeff Hardy to TNA wrestling. And now it is apparent that his brother Matt and good friend Gregory "The Hurricane" Helms are signing with TNA. Now this all sounds fine and good but it brings up one big problem that TNA will either have to address or totally ignore. Jeff Hardy has one of the largest fan bases in all of professional wrestling. The guy gets "props" from the crowd like no other. In WWE he was one of the biggest things going; you would be hard pressed to show up to some ...
