This Decade’s First 50 Women (2010)!

Posted by Chris B On June - 27 - 2010
Hello one and all to this decade’s first fifty women ! I know you’re probably wondering what that means exactly-allow me to explain. We’re currently in the year 2010! That means that it’s been ten years since the attitude era, golden age, etc. etc. In this decade, we’ve seen many women come and go, but all have been unique and special in their own ways. That’s why I’m going to highlight them here on the site! I’m going to make a countdown list of the 50 top females that have passed this decade, and in no particular order, mind you. ...

WWE Pay-Per-View Shows : How I Would Revamp The Formula

Posted by Dan Power On June - 27 - 2010
First of all, I would like to thank Jason Taylor who inspired me to write the following article. You can read his work here : http://bleacherreport.com/articles/412039-wwe-pay-per-view-has-quality-been-sacrificed-for-quantity After reading the article and the comments, but also according to the result of his poll, it seems clear that the fans would like less pay-per-views to get better story lines. By stopping the monthly basis, the hype surrounding those events would increase. I would even accept to pay $5 or $10 more to watch better quality shows. If the hype and high expectations are there, the fans will probably say the same. To improve the ...

ECW Faction = Abyss’ “They”? Can We Bring The Band Back?

Posted by Ian Malone On June - 27 - 2010
Last Thursday Night we were treated to an Abyss heel turn, which is refreshing since most of us want heel Abyss anyway. I can't help but feel nervous, however, about the idea that Tommy Dreamer and his ECW friends are the "They" that Abyss is referring to.  This isn't some conspiracy theory. The ECW crew showed up during Thursday's main event of Abyss vs. Mr. Anderson. If Taz's commentary means anything and is more than just mindless rants, they are already showing heel tendencies. Taz noted that Dreamer had not returned his calls.  I'm still trying to figure out what good this ...

TNA, You Really Need to Get the Basics Right!

Posted by Chris O Connall On June - 27 - 2010
Having actually had the time to watch a full episode of TNA iMPACT! for the first time in a long time, I sat dumbfounded staring at my television. I simply could not believe the fact that TNA couldn't even get the basic things right.   Mistake No. 1: Lack of Hype and Continuity For example, after last week's show, which saw the heel turn of Abyss, TNA failed to capitalize on this big angle. During the closing moments of the show, there was no ''What's gonna happen next week?,'' no ''Abyss is gonna face major consequences for his actions.'' There was nothing to urge the fans to ...

WWE: June 25 Review Of Friday Night Smackdown!

Posted by Chris O Connall On June - 27 - 2010
Jack Swagger Promo This was a very good promo from Swagger. It was the classic heel promo—complaining about losing your title, it was an injustice, and I want it back, etc. Swagger actually drew some good heat. Good mic skills, good segment. 4/5   Big Show vs Jack Swagger This was a great TV match. Swagger looked weak early on but that all changed. This match pretty much had everything—emotional investment from the fans, a balance of domination between the two men, and a great finish which fits in with the storyline. Hell, this match even had Big Show hit a superplex from the second ...

Paul Heyman: Extreme Desperation

Posted by Tom Clark On June - 27 - 2010
TNA is reportedly interested in Paul Heyman. I suppose I should be impressed by this. Maybe I should look at this and say ‘well, goes to show that TNA realizes they need some more work creatively, and they’re going after one of the most innovative minds the business has seen in the past twenty years.’ Yes, I should definitely see this as a positive step forward for this still growing promotion. Problem is, I don’t. Don’t misunderstand me here, this is not to bash anything that Heyman did with ECW. He took a regional promotion and made it the talk of ...

Bryan Danielson Firing Remind You Of The Muhammad Hassan Firing?!

Posted by iqbal siraj On June - 27 - 2010
We do not know the exact reasons Bryan Danielson's firing. Some say the tie choking incident. Some say he spat on Cena's emotional face; some say both. You're probably getting tired with all these Bryan Danielson articles, but I am just one more opinion.... What if John Cena spat on someone's face? What if he choked someone with a tie? He wouldn't get fired. Damn, he would probably get another title shot in a month's time. It is ridiculous that Vince would use Danielson as a scapegoat for the complaints he got from executives, and in the process embarassing the biggest ...

Money in the Bank PPV: Is WWE Ruining a Perfect Gimmick?

Posted by Paul Austin On June - 27 - 2010
In 1972, British wrestler Kendo Nagasaki invented a new angle for a wrestling match when he introduced a ladder to the squared circle. This concept was then taken to Stampede Wrestling in Calgary. Then in 1983, Stampede Wrestling held a ladder match where Bret Hart faced off against Bad News Brown. Hart went on to join the WWF and suggested this type of match to promoter Vince McMahon. The gimmick achieved its current popularity in the then-WWF. Over those years the gimmick was deployed in many different ways, and in 2005 it morphed again, when Chris Jericho (kayfabe) pitched the idea of a Money in ...

A Dash of Greatness: Is “Dashing” Cody Rhodes on the Rise?

Posted by Nicholas LeVack On June - 27 - 2010
Since departing from his lackluster stable with Ted DiBiase Jr. and Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes has been given a backseat on Friday Night Smackdown, working more often on Superstars than the blue brand itself. However, if you've been paying attention to those matches, you'd notice his wrestling prowess has truly begun to flourish now that he's stepped out of the shadows of Randy Orton and Ted DiBiase . On this past Friday night, Cody Rhodes was given a segment to introduce his new gimmick: "Dashing" Cody Rhodes, a self-adoring "pretty boy" who loathes the less appealing masses as much as he loves ...

WWE Pay-Per View: Has Quality Been Sacrificed for Quantity?

Posted by Jason Taylor On June - 27 - 2010
Greetings and salutations, my fellow wrestling fans. After watching the Fatal 4-Way PPV last Sunday, I felt like WWE bent me over and yelled "BOHICA!", short for "Bend Over, Here It Comes Again!" Not only did the event last just 2-1/2 hours, it was basically a snoozefest. Afterwards, several of my friends and I were asking each other, "What in the blue hell was that?" I couldn't even run up a tab at my local watering hole, an oddity for me. Let's not kid ourselves, pay-per-view is the straw that stirs the WWE's drink, accounting for approximately 18 percent of their annual revenue stream. In 2010, ...
