Big Show Would Thrive As Stephanie McMahon’s Corporate Ally

Posted by Erik Beaston On September - 30 - 2013
Last Monday night on Raw, The Big Show balled up his fist and knocked out The Miz on orders from Stephanie McMahon. In weeks past, the giant would have hesitated and cried over being forced into something he did not want to do. He would have been a big ball of emotions as he debated whether or not to do as he was told or risk no longer being able to provide for his family. There was none of that as he stood over the unconscious carcass of the former WWE champion. Instead, he was emotionless as he exited the ring and ...
Back in May, in the post-WrestleMania season, I wrote an article that was heavily critical of WWE's flagship television shows: Raw and SmackDown.  However, over the last five or six months, sufficient changes have been implemented in the weekly Raw broadcast to make it feel like a worthwhile show almost every week.  Primarily, since the dawning of the new McMahon/Helmsley "dictatorship," as it has been referred to by Michael Cole, the show has had a clear direction and central developing storyline. In the post-WrestleMania season, we were treated to repetitive "the Champ is here" promos from John Cena, the company's then-top heel, CM ...

10 Biggest Gimmick Flops in WWE History

Posted by Sharon Glencross On September - 30 - 2013
Let's be honest: WWE has had too many bad gimmicks to count. For every great gimmick (like, say, The Undertaker) there are at least three mediocre ones. But these ones are different. They weren't just bad—they were awful. They made you embarrassed to be a wrestling fan. So, considering things like just how cringeworthy they were, as well as how badly they affected the career of the performer playing them, let's have a look at the 10 worst gimmicks in WWE history.Begin Slideshow

Could WWE Superstars Undertaker and Kane Be Returning to TV?

Posted by Richard Warrell On September - 28 - 2013
Over the last few days, WWE's official Twitter account has released a number of cryptic tweets that seem to relate to Kane and The Undertaker, all using the hashtag #RestinPieces. Of course, “rest in peace” is a well-known catchphrase of The Undertaker, and this seems to be a play on words of that phrase. It is this author’s belief that these tweets relate to an upcoming comic book starring the two iconic wrestlers, and possibly also to a televised reunion for the Brothers of Destruction to promote the release.  Cryptic messages have often been used to herald the return of Kane or ...

5 Reasons Why The Usos Should Be the Next WWE Tag Team Champions

Posted by Sean McCallon On September - 28 - 2013
Currently, The Usos are the most popular babyface tag team in WWE. This is shown through the loud reaction that the live audience gives them. When The Usos yell, “U,” the live crowd cannot help but yell back, “So.” With their signature chant of “Uso” and high-flying excitement, it is no wonder why they are so popular in the WWE Universe. Their recent success in the tag team division has not gone unnoticed, as they are the No. 1 contenders to the WWE Tag Team Championship. The Usos should be the next tag team to hold the belts, and here is why. Begin ...

WWE Week in Review, Sept. 28: CM Punk Returns to Chicago, The Shield Shines

Posted by Graham GSM Matthews On September - 28 - 2013
As WWE Battleground draws near, the card of the pending pay-per-view has already started to take shape. The three matches advertised for the inaugural event were heavily hyped over the course of the last week. In the main event of Raw, Daniel Bryan finally overcame The Shield in a Handicap Elimination match, but not before Randy Orton dismantled Rob Van Dam earlier in the evening. Will Orton's new-found mean streak help him regain the WWE Championship, or does Bryan have Orton's number? CM Punk returned home to Chicago in front of an electric crowd on Monday night. His celebration was short-lived, however, ...

WWE Battleground 2013: Underrated Feuds That Deserve Booking

Posted by Big Nasty On September - 28 - 2013
WWE Battleground occurs during a time period when significant feuds are developing, although they are not able to grow based on the limited period between pay-per-views. WWE will be airing three pay-per-views, Night of Champions, Battleground and Hell in a Cell, in a one month span. The emphasis is currently on Daniel Bryan, Randy Orton and the corporation. Bryan and Orton once again find themselves in the main event following months of TV build up, but there is currently more competition among the WWE roster to vie for the top billing.  Cody Rhodes and Damien Sandow seemed like they had a strong feud going. ...

WWE Battleground 2013: Full Odds for Possible Superstar Returns at PPV

Posted by Big Nasty On September - 28 - 2013
Since WE Battleground constitutes as a pay-per-view, returns from high-profile WWE superstars are deemed necessary. The WWE Twitter account is already tinkering around with teasers of a possible Undertaker return, so one can only dream right? With WWE airing the second of three pay-per-views in a one month span, the most low-profile pay-per-view events of the trio will benefit from a boost in star power. WWE Battleground currently offers nothing in star power, so perhaps a return or two could at least help boost pay-per-view buys ahead of WWE's first-time offering.  Potential returns will be graded on popularity with fans and how well ...

Complete Report Card and Predictions Following WWE SmackDown for Sept. 27

Posted by The Doctor Chris Mueller On September - 28 - 2013
Every week here on Bleacher Report, I will take an in-depth look at SmackDown, recapping all of the action, offering analysis and grading the matches, segments and anything else that takes place on the show, as well as provide some predictions on the direction of storylines. We are just over a week away from Battleground, and WWE has started to fill out the card with the matches that will take place at the pay-per-view. This week's episode of SmackDown ended up being vastly superior to last week's show in both wrestling quality and storyline development. Let's get into this week's show with the opening segment ...
