The Miz: How Long Will He Hold the WWE Championship?
On April - 5 - 2011
After a week-long hiatus, I, Amsterdam, am back to writing articles for Bleacher Report.
Did you miss me?
(crickets)
Yeah, well, whatever...
At WrestleMania XXVII, the WWE Universe witnessed history in the making, as The Miz retained his title against John Cena not once, but twice, and walked out of the pay-per-view still the WWE Champion.
The first time The Miz retained his championship was due to a draw. Both he and Cena ended up outside the ring, and both were unable to get up before the count of 10. Due to the rules, the title couldn't change hands.
But immediately following the count-out, The Rock came out, and ...
WWE Raw: What Last Night’s Confrontation Told Us About Sunday’s Main Event
On March - 29 - 2011
Have any of you ever seen a film by Sergio Leone called The Good, the Bad and the Ugly? It's a 1966 spaghetti western starring Clint Eastwood, and it is considered by many to be the greatest western film of all time. In the film, there are three main characters: Blondie (the good), Angel Eyes (the bad) and Tuco (the ugly). The three men are all after the same goal: $200,000 worth of Confederate gold that is buried in the middle of a cemetery called Sad Hill. After several encounters with each other throughout the film, all three men eventually end up at Sad ...
WWE’s Money in the Bank: Why Not Having It at WrestleMania Is a Good Thing
On March - 27 - 2011
We are now one week away from WrestleMania XXVII, and now that the card has been confirmed, we can already sort out the differences that make this year's showcase of immortals stand out.
One of the most notable things that makes the 27th WrestleMania stand out from its recent predecessors is the lack of a Money in the Bank ladder match.
We all know how the match works: A selected group of WWE Superstars participate in a ladder match. Hanging from above the ring is a briefcase.
The WWE Superstar who can climb a lader and retreive the briefcase is dubbed the new "Mr. Money ...
Wade Barrett: Why Becoming Intercontinental Champion Means His Push Failed
On March - 26 - 2011
In case you didn't watch Friday Night SmackDown this week, Wade Barrett defeated Kofi Kingston for the Intercontinental Championship.
This title victory not only gave Wade Barrett his first title reign in the WWE, but it also increased The Corre's ever-growing power over the blue brand.
On most occasions, winning your first Intercontinental Championship would be considered the sign of a push. For Barrett, however, it is the sign of a failed one.
Roughly one year ago, Wade Barrett made his debut on the first season of WWE NXT. From the moment he arrived, you could already tell that he had the potential for ...
WrestleMania XXVII: Predicting the Outcome of WWE’s Show of Shows
On March - 24 - 2011
We are now less than two weeks away from the biggest professional wrestling pay-per-view of 2011: WrestleMania XXVII. Most of the buildup is finished, most of the matches have been determined, and most of the WWE Universe is prepared to find out what happens next Sunday. And like most members of the Internet Wrestling Community, I have also made my predictions on the result of every match on the card. From the last-minute filler to the hyped main event, these are my predictions on the outcome of WrestleMania XXVII, in order from the most predictable to the most unpredictable. Michael Cole ...
Michael Cole: What Will WWE Do with Him After WrestleMania XXVII?
On March - 21 - 2011
Can I have your attention please? I have just received an e-mail from the anonymous Raw general manager...
These are the dreaded words heard at least once every Monday night from the official spokesperson for the Raw general manager, WWE commentator Michael Cole.
Amidst the chorus of boos and groans from the crowd, Michael Cole gets up from his seat behind the announce table, and goes to the podium where the laptop sits, unfazed by the large amount of heat he receives in doing so.
He opens the laptop.
And I quote...
With the second half of his signature catchphrase now finished, Cole reads aloud ...
Velvet Sky: Is She Ever Going to Become a TNA Women’s Knockout Champion?
On March - 19 - 2011
In late 2007, TNA Knockouts Angelina Love and Velvet Sky formed a professional wrestling stable known as The Beautiful People.
Inspired by real-life socialites Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie, the group is known for their narcissistic gimmick of thinking they are physically superior to all other TNA Knockouts, and their main goal is to "cleanse the world...one ugly person at a time."
In the years since its formation, The Beautiful People has gone on to become the most successful female stables in professional wrestling history, with five TNA Women's Knockout Championship reigns and one TNA Knockout Tag Team Championship reigns under its belt.
The stable has ...
Jeff Hardy: Why TNA Needs to Get Rid of Their Charismatic Enigma
On March - 17 - 2011
Negative attention is better than no attention at all.
Has anyone else ever heard of that old saying?
Apparently, TNA is very familiar with it. In the eyes of a dying promotion that continues to believe it has a chance of becoming the next WCW, bad publicity is still publicity nonetheless. Why else would they still keep Jeff Hardy around?
Like most wrestling fans, I didn't care about, buy, or watch TNA's Victory Road pay-per-view this past week. But also like most wrestling fans, I...unfortunately...did end up watching the so-called "main-event" of Victory Road online a few days later.
For those of you lucky ...
WWE: The Death of King Sheamus and the Comeback of the Celtic Warrior
On March - 15 - 2011
When Sheamus won the WWE Championship back in December of 2009, the WWE Universe almost blew up in an explosion of anger and confusion. Why in the world would World Wrestling Entertainment put their most prestigious title on a wrestler that hasn't even been on the main roster for six months? That was the question that many fans, including myself, had on their minds. As it turned out, the dirt sheets revealed that Sheamus was a good friend of Triple H, a WWE veteran infamously known for not only (literally) screwing his way to the top of the company, but ...
WWE: Should Randy Orton Move to Friday Night SmackDown?
On March - 13 - 2011
One year ago this month, Randy Orton turned into a babyface by defeating Ted DiBiase and Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania XXVI.
In the year since his turn, I cannot help but notice that, even though he is just as popular now as a good guy as he was back when he was a heel, my expectations of a face Orton have not lived anywhere near up to the initial hype I thought it would bring.
While Orton is still one of the top stars of the company, and has entered a point in his career where he dosen't even need to hold a title constantly ...
