AJ Styles vs. Kevin Owens: Comparing WWE SmackDown, Raw’s Booking of Top Heels

Posted by Ryan Dilbert On January - 20 - 2017

AJ Styles has had a distinct edge over Kevin Owens as the two villains have reigned over WWE SmackDown and Raw, respectively: superior booking. The amount of electricity surrounding their upcoming title bouts speak to that. Styles is poised to face John Cena for the WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view on Jan. 29. Owens will defend the Universal Championship against Roman Reigns the same night. SmackDown's championship bout is more appealing, a collision of titans belonging to the blue ...

Possible Additions to DX

Posted by Brad Norton On August - 18 - 2009ADD COMMENTS
So, with the recent formation of DX and now, with the ambush of legacy on last nights Monday night Raw. I was discussing with my dad that DX needs more Members. Because of several resoans, them being, someone who can carry it on after Shawn Michaels and Triple H are done(which will be sooner rather than later), to keep things interesting and not go to the same predictable boring routine from the 90's. To keep an extra eye out. So, they don't get Ambushed by teams like Legacy again. These are honurable mentions followed by actual people that will fit. Now, most of ...
Usually, I have enjoyed playing the heel of the Wrestling Community. I call out certain individuals, and they scream at the top of their lungs: "I am not a nugget!" I call out others, in a good way, and they prove me right on those marks. But when I called out guys like the PW Community Head Honchos, they did something bigger. They brought their "A" Game to the table. This is why I am not insulting or chastising the current Community Leader. I am singing his praises. From his hit radio show, "Hit The Ropes," to his constant belief that this section can ...
It's amazing how TNA continues to shoot itself in the foot with its decision making. Let's go back to their Slammiversary Pay Per View, where Samoa Joe turned on A.J. Styles and handed Kurt Angle the TNA Heavyweight Championship belt. Joe was later revealed to be a part of the Main Event Mafia. My feelings on the Joe swerve can be read here. Fast forward to the Bubba the Love Sponge scandal, where a mystery caller told of Karen Angle, Kurt's former wife, for sleeping with TNA founder Jeff Jarrett. Jarrett has not been seen on or around TNA since then. After Jarrett's departure, several of ...

ECWA: The Stomping Ground for Future Superstars

Posted by Ross Rutherford On August - 17 - 2009ADD COMMENTS
Every pro wrestler in the WWE or TNA today had their start in a independent promotion. Every single one of them from John Cena to Triple H had humble beginnings. I think that is incredible. Whether they started in Ohio Valley Wrestling, Ring of Honor, Combat Zone Wrestling, Eastern Championship Wrestling Association, or countless other promotions, they all had their beginnings in the indies. The ECWA has become one of the most respected independent wrestling promotions in the country since it was established in 1967 by Jim Kettner. The promotion has gained a lot of respect in the past 10 or 15 years for ...
For those of you who don't know, TNA's latest PPV, Hard Justice, was on last night. I thought it was a very good PPV wrestling-wise, with the exception of the horrible Mick Foley vs Kevin Nash match, which was so bad I think I dozed off a bit during it. Then we saw the World Title match. As I mentioned in my article yesterday, despite the trouble Kurt Angle got into just the day before, he was going to be at the event. Some people were not happy that he was released from jail, but I had no issue with that ...

Spotlighting the Indies: James “Spud” Curtin

Posted by Hayley Graham On August - 17 - 2009ADD COMMENTS
If you thought that Spuds were just potatoes, you didn't take this one into account! James Curtin, more commonly known to the wrestling world as Spud, has spent most of his career being compared to TNA's Amazing Red. There's a good reason for it. At 5'3", Spud is the smallest mainstream wrestler currently performing in Britain, but don't let his size fool you. He is the definition of a live wire. High-flying, death-defying, and electric, Spud is always dropping jaws wherever he goes. Curtin began his training at the tender age of 16, under the tutelage of K-Stars Wrestling trainers Jack Storm ...

The Most Dominant Pro Wrestlers By Decade

Posted by Daris Brown On August - 17 - 2009ADD COMMENTS
After seeing a similar list on SportsIllustrated.com, I started thinking about the most dominate pro wrestlers in wrestling history. And after some searching and prodding, I came up with the Most Dominate Pro Wrestlers By Decade, starting with the 1950s. There are a lot of great wrestlers who could have made the list but narrowly missed out. I used popularity, title reigns, impact on wrestling and legacy as determining factors for this list. Read, Discuss, Enjoy. Begin Slideshow
As reported on Saturday, pro wrestler Kurt Angle was arrested for possession of human growth hormone. This led to speculation among TNA fans that Angle would drop the heavyweight title the following night, last night, at Hard Justice. But that didn’t happen. Angle retained his title, and TNA blew a golden opportunity in more ways than one. First of all, Angle should not have retained the belt. This is not the first time he has been caught with HGH, and since no punishment has been given, it probably won’t be the last. I’m well aware a lot of wrestlers juice, and a lot of them ...

A Decade of Dominance: The Story of a Future Legend

Posted by Steven Davison On August - 17 - 2009ADD COMMENTS
Disclaimer: A big thank you for all involved in this article, first for taking time out to answer a question (or two); Dave Prazak, Allison Danger and LuFisto. Also a special thanks to Jeff D Gorman for the editing (help pre-posting) and to contributions from fans. Change, a lot of change happens over a decade. Men walk on the moon, a tiny cube made up of little coloured squares takes over pop culture and in the nineties we got Springer. But also in the nineties we were given the in ring exploits of Melissa Anderson. No? Maybe you know her by...Alissa Flash? ...
As I was doing my daily commute through wrestling sites to inform myself of all the goings on yesterday, I saw that there was a story on Kurt Angle getting arrested. This news story was covered by not only our own B/R, but TMZ, and even the Associated Press. This made headlines because of it being Kurt Angle naturally, but even more so when people saw he was found with HGH (Human Growth Hormone) in his bag after being pulled over by an officer. Now, he was arrested for the simple fact that he had a suspended license. He had a DUI ...
