Since its inception in 2005 at WrestleMania 21, the "Money in the Bank" Ladder match has become one of WrestleMania's signature events. Each year, a select group of superstars have the opportunity to climb the ladder and retrieve the briefcase, guaranteeing them a WWE or World Heavyweight Championship match at anytime within a year.
Each time a superstar has captured the briefcase, they have gone on to cash it in and win the WWE or World Heavyweight Championship.
