On June 15, 2009, Donald Trump "bought" Monday Night Raw from Vince McMahon. The next week, McMahon decided he wanted to buy the franchise back for double the money he sold it for when he saw Trump was going to make the program commercial-free each and every week.
However, one of the caveats of the blockbuster deal was that a celebrity, past or present wrestling personality, or anyone for that matter would serve as the guest host of Raw each week. It was a win-win deal for WWE, which got more mainstream media while the celebrities were given an opportunity to promote their product.
