In 2003, Pro Wrestling Illustrated (PWI) compiled a list of the top 100 tag teams during the "PWI Years", which originated in 1979.
For some uncanny reason, approximately 40 percent of the teams on the list competed mostly in Japan, including ten of PWI's top 20 teams.
I decided to only list the teams which wrestled in North America.
Below are the top 50 tag teams that competed in North America in the order listed by PWI.
50 - Moondogs
Though they won the WWF Tag Title in 1981, Spot and Rex quickly became a team who's role was to enhance the young tag teams (e.g. British Bulldogs, US Express, Killer Bees) that were entering the WWF in mid-1980s.
