The formerly unknown wrestler first appeared on ECW.
Before beginning his match he grabbed the mic and spoke a few words in a rare language, introducing himself as Sheamus—a monstrous redhead from Ireland that had "come to take ECW as his own."
He went on that night to destroy a local competitor. His cocky attitude made him a heel in the eyes of the fans.
In the following months he continued making appearances on the show, defeating local competitors and well-known wrestlers like Goldust and Shelton Benjamin, thus earning some reputation and hype.
