Well for those that like short articles, the answer in my opinion is simply No. Short and sweet perhaps but having read the excellent Death of WCW , the answer seems unlikely to ever change.
Take for instance the WCW invasion that occurred in 2001, with few exceptions those that came over after the WWE buyout failed to register any success of note. It was argued by Reynolds and Alvarez that McMahon simply did not want any WCW star to triumph because it would prove that Turner had had the superior brand.
This is perhaps not surprising, give that the WWE had just won the first Monday Night War, but it gives rise to the question of whether any superstar who is not a WWE loyalist can win serious gold ?...
