WWE Draft 2011: What Will Happen with "The Chosen One" Drew McIntyre?

Posted by Nate Scaccia On April - 24 - 2011

Well, Bleachers, we are only 30 hours away from the 2011 WWE Draft. Over the past week, many articles have been written breaking down all aspects of the draft.

I have covered two topics of the draft: my personal predictions and superstars who need to be drafted.

In this article, I will discuss how the draft could impact Drew McIntyre. So without further delay let’s get started.

Drew McIntyre is one of the youngest and brightest stars in the WWE. He has potential to become one of the WWE’s top superstars. All the tools are there; he has the charisma, mic skills, wrestling ability and gimmick that a superstar needs.

With that said, something has been missing lately for “The Chosen One.” Drew McIntyre has simply run out of competition on Smackdown.

Over the past year, Drew McIntyre has been involved in feuds with; Edge, Kofi Kingston, Christian, John Morrison and a mini-feud with Rey Mysterio. There is simply nothing left for “The Sinister Scotsman” on Smackdown.

For Drew McIntyre, the draft has two possible outcomes. The first being the most obvious, he gets drafted to Raw. The second option is that he stays on Smackdown but many new superstars get drafted to/from the Blue brand allowing McIntyre to shine. Let’s take a look at both of these options.

McIntyre gets Drafted to Raw

This option is pretty simple. Drew McIntyre gets drafted to the “A” show, allowing him to develop new feuds and possibly become a main event star.

The current Raw roster has a few possible feuds for the Scotsman. McIntyre could feud with; Daniel Bryan, Evan Bourne, Sin Cara, Randy Orton, a face turned Dolph Ziggler, a face turned CM Punk, a face turned Sheamus or possibly “superman” himself John Cena.

The point is, Raw has many new options for Drew McIntyre. I think that he will be drafted to Raw and hopefully becomes involved in a nice feud with one of the superstars listed.

McIntyre Stays on Smackdown

In order for Drew McIntyre to stay on Smackdown, more superstars need to be drafted to the show. If Smackdown gained a few of the superstars I listed above, then he should be fine. But the current Smackdown roster does not have anything left for McIntyre. This is why I hope he gets drafted to Raw.

There is also one more thing I would like to discuss here. Drew McIntyre needs to get more of an edge to really put himself over as “The Sinister Scotsman.” His match with JTG on WWE Superstars three weeks ago had a little bit more of an “edge” like feel to it.

Here is a link to the video. If he can get a mean streak going then Drew McIntyre will become very interesting to watch.

Monday’s draft will be very interesting to watch. What will happen with Drew McIntyre and many other superstars? Tune in to Raw to find out, and stick with Bleacher Report for all your draft coverage.
