After reading an article on the WWE changing the name of the Fatal Four Way PPV to Capitol Punishment in honor of the PPV taking place at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. on June 19, I was not surprised by the news.
Before there was Fatal Four Way, there was a PPV titled The Great American Bash (later renamed the Bash) which was pretty popular. But the WWE created Fatal Four Way, a gimmick Pay-Per-View in which all the championship matches were Fatal Four Way matches.
Unfortunately, Fatal Four Way received lackluster reviews, not to mention it accumulated 143,000 buys down from the 2009 edition of The Bash with 178,000 buys.
