Last week on SmackDown, Tyson Kidd earned a spot in the blue brand’s Money in the Bank ladder match. Saying that Kidd is an underdog in the match is a major understatement. That said, the last graduate of the Hart Dungeon shouldn’t be written off just yet.
Kidd has spent the last year or so as a part of the NXT roster. More recently, he has joined forces with Justin Gabriel and set his sights on the WWE Tag Team Championship. By entering the Money in the Bank ladder match, Kidd has now put himself in a position to be a future World Heavyweight Champion.
By flying under the radar, Kidd has probably done himself a favor in this match. Since his opponents in the match haven’t really had the chance to work with him, they may not know what to expect. That could certainly prove to be advantageous.
Due to the nature of the match, Kidd’s ability to out-wrestle his opponents may be lost. It won’t hinder him in any way, but it won’t provide the kind of edge he’s probably used to.
On the other hand, Tyson Kidd is definitely willing to take the kinds of risks needed to win a Money in the Bank match. Being a ladder match, it’s almost guaranteed that Kidd will utilize his high-flying offense even more than usual. There’s no doubt that will help his chances.
Finally, Kidd is simply a smart competitor. He is of a select group that has been taught by the legendary Hart family. His knowledge of the sport of professional wrestling alone makes him a dark horse in this match.
Come Money in the Bank, one SmackDown superstar will step up and earn a future World Heavyweight Championship match. That briefcase could propel any of the entrants onto the main event scene.
Tyson Kidd is an underdog—a dark horse. I am confident in his ability to take advantage of this golden opportunity.
