CM Punk: The WWE is Building Him Up Right

Posted by Scott Manyard On March - 19 - 2010
In the past couple of weeks CM Punk has become involved in a white hot feud with Rey Mysterio. The two have been going at it for the better part of a month and will... Spoiler Alert! be having a street fight match against each other at WrestleMania 26. This match will arguably be one of the biggest matches of his career, as it will be his first singles match at WM and will establish him has a big time singles star. It's kind of funny to think that this is happening when considering the ups and downs of Punk's career since the start of ...

Why WWE’s NXT Will Fail: Part 2 (First Argument Revisited)

Posted by Scott Manyard On March - 11 - 2010
Over a month ago I wrote an article stating why WWE's NXT would fail. My argument was that the WWE's main goal when they cancelled ECW and changed to NXT was to draw higher ratings. Throughout all of 2009, SyFy execs made it clear that they were not happy with the ratings that ECW was drawing. ECW averaged 1.0-1.4, and that was on a really, and I mean really, good night. So NXT was the WWE's idea to increase their ratings and please the SyFy execs. Well, it doesn't seem that is going to work because, according to an article written by Siva Prasad, ...

Legacy: The Unfortunate Mishandling Of Their Split

Posted by Scott Manyard On March - 9 - 2010
If you have been watching Raw lately, you have been seeing the demise of the once great stable Legacy. Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase, once faithful followers of Orton, have rebelled against their teacher and severed their ties with him. Most saw this break up coming months ago, but I doubt anyone thought that it would end up the way it currently is being handled. In what I consider shocking, and more than anything odd, Randy Orton seems to be making a baby-face turn. Now, if you were calling that, then kudos to you, because I don't think anyone saw that one coming. With Orton ...
If you've noticed by now, TNA vs. WWE is tonight, and unlike the battle on Jan. 4, this battle is permanent. To say that TNA is the underdog would be an understatement. In my opinion, TNA doesn't stand a chance. But to give credit where credit is due, TNA has been hyping tonight’s episode and has even released a promo video entitled The First Five Minutes. If you haven't seen the video here is the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YLfPtl8j6Sw If you're too lazy to click the link or it doesn't work, here is a brief summary of what the video consists of. I honestly can't remember the ...

Is Sheamus vs. HHH at WrestleMania a Pointless Match?

Posted by Scott Manyard On March - 2 - 2010
After last night’s Raw, it became pretty obvious that the much-expected HHH and Sheamus match at Wrestlemania 26 will be happening. Sheamus jumped the railing and attacked HHH after DX lost their rematch for the Unified Tag Team Championship to Show-Miz. So what is the point of having a HHH vs. Sheamus match at Wrestlemania? Well, I can come up with some obvious reasons. It puts Triple H on the Wrestlemania card. And let’s face it, a WrestleMania without Triple H just wouldn't be the same. Second, it puts Sheamus in his first WrestleMania match and against a high-profile guy like HHH. Lastly if the match ...

Breaking News: Why Eddie Fatu (Umaga) Died

Posted by Scott Manyard On March - 1 - 2010
The following is from TMZ.com. WWE Superstar Death—Vicodin and Valium Former WWE Superstar Eddie Fatu aka Umaga —who died in December—was the victim of a bad combination of drugs, according to the Harris County Medical Examiner in Texas. Dan Morgan, the supervisory forensic investigator for Harris County, blamed "acute toxicity"—claiming the combined effects of hydrocodone (aka Vicodin), carisoprodol (muscle relaxer), and diazepam (aka Valium) were responsible for the wrestler's death. The death was ruled "accidental"—Fatu was 36. According to the WWE, Fatu was released from his wrestling contract on June 11 for violating the ...

Who Will Be WWE NXT’s Breakout Star?

Posted by Scott Manyard On February - 26 - 2010
This Tuesday night WWE's new and innovative show NXT debuted, and wrestling fans were given a taste of the WWE's bright and exciting future. Out of the eight rookies, five rookies received measurable face time, especially Daniel Bryan. We also saw some in ring action from Heath Slater, David Otunga, Michael Tarver, Darren Young, and got a chance to hear Wade Barrett. While Barrett was not involved in a match, he still got a chance to speak and handled himself well on the mic. We have yet to see the remaining rookies but their debuts will come on the following weeks. Bryan had arguably the ...

Bubba the Love Sponge Accused of Racial Tirade Against Awesome Kong

Posted by Scott Manyard On February - 25 - 2010
Apparently, Bubba the Love Sponge took his personal feud with Kia Stevens, a.k.a Awesome Kong, to a whole different level. According to TMZ.com, someone claiming to be Bubba the Love Sponge, or BTLS for short, called Stevens' home phone and unleashed a racial tirade on her. The call was made from a private number, but Stevens is certain that it really was BTLS behind the verbal attack. Stevens has filed documents in a Florida court to try and check Bubba's call history to see if it was him who was actually calling. According to the documents, the caller said, "You'll be dead like all of ...

WrestleMania: Where Does Triple H End Up?

Posted by Scott Manyard On February - 22 - 2010
After John Cena won the WWE Championship before subsequently losing it to Batista, it became clear that Triple H would not be in a title match at WrestleMania for the first time in years. If you’re new to wrestling, Hunter Hearst Helmsley is pretty much the biggest name in the business. He's also one of the most decorated champions in WWE history, and has a combined 13 world title reigns (WWE and World Heavyweight Championships). He holds the record for most WWE title reigns with eight, and is tied with Edge for the most World Heavyweight championship reigns with five. Among other reasons, this ...

Why the WWE’s Pay Per View Name Changes Are Huge Mistakes

Posted by Scott Manyard On February - 19 - 2010
I recently read an article here on Bleacher Report that was written by Aaron Leal, and here it is. In the article, it stated that there would be several new pay-per-views that would be making their debuts this year, most of which would be based around gimmick matches. After reading the article I decided to do some searching around the web and found several articles saying the same thing; with just a couple of more changes stated in the other articles. I found one in particular on the same subject at InsidePulse.com , and here is what it said: After the news that the Survivor ...
